| omg I loved it! This episode was great. It was strange because someone was shot, and yet this episode was nothing like TSS or RTT. But I mean that in a good way. Like it was sweet and dramatic and funny all at the same time. Holly J. was amazing in this episode! I absolutely love how she was portrayed. It would've been better if we found out in an earlier episode that she was in love with Spinner, because then I think it would've made it more dramatic. But it still made total sense. I love how Spinner told her that he was the only one who really knew her, and that's why she felt so close to him. It's so true! So at the end, when she ended up with Blue and told him about her family situation - that was brillant! It was the perfect way to end season 8. This is the type of episode when you'd think that the main plot would waaaaay overshadow the subplot, but I felt that this surprisingly wasn't the case! The KC/Clare subplot was ADORABLE. Their first kiss was so cute and awkward in a DJH kind of way. I love them together. In a few years, once the actors get more comfortable with their characters, they are going to be a power couple for sure. And Connor was perfect as well!! He was so funny, and so in character. It makes complete sense that he would just lock them in a room and think that's going to fix everything. And it was so funny how he didn't even notice that girl liked him, but then sort of figured it out in the end! It really showed that he's becoming more aware of social situations - nice character growth. I hope we see a lot more of the grade 9s next season. I even liked Peter/Mia. Well, maybe not. I still don't like them together, but I think that it made sense. It was sweet, and I totally get how a situation like that would bring them back together. The one problem that I had with this episode was Spinner getting shot. It was strange. Like he didn't really seem like he was injured all that bad... I kind of wish he got injured in some other way. I can't really think of anything else they could've done... but I find it annoying that both Jimmy and Spinner have been shot. That's kind of lame if you ask me. This episode was also sort of like a cheap version of Flashpoint at some parts. Like with the Emergency Task Force there - I was just like "omg Flashpoint!" lol I can't believe season 8 is over. I'm happy with it. I kind of lost interest after Riley's episode aired, but that's less because Degrassi isn't good anymore and more because I'm growing out of it. I think that these characters have so much potential. A few seasons from now they really could have some epic storylines. Degrassi has been sort of Nickelodeon this season, but it's still Degrassi. Like there's no way that Zoey 101 would ever do an episode about child molestation. I'm just so happy that there seem to be so many new, young Degrassi fans that have fallen in love with the new characters the way I fell in love with the old gang back in season 1/2/3. I think these new kids are going to do a great job keeping the Degrassi spirit alive ![]() __________________ my fear dies, leaving yours alive -Erin (aka the funsponge loverrrr)freddie&effy ♥ | |||

| All right, here we go... thoughts on the episode: Over all, I enjoyed it. I agree that parts of it were like a bad episode of Flashpoint. ![]() I thought Charlotte's acting was spot on, and the episode was a good one for the Holly J. character arc. We've really seen a transformation with her character throughout the course of this season. Spinner was great as always. I liked that Holly J.'s crush on Spinner was unrequited. I like them as friends only. It also created some nice little angst for her character. The hold up was okay, I think the fact that this storyline took place in a single episode is a little melodramatic... but it worked, I guess. It was nice to see more of Blue, but I don't think they're doing a whole lot with his character. Holly J. and Jane remain my two favourite Lakehurst expats. The KC/Clare b-plot was cute. It's about time those two did something already. I also liked how Connor believed everything would be fixed so simply-- totally in-character for him. It was nice to see Connor not be completely ignored either. The Mia/Peter b-plot... eh, I don't really care for either character, and I don't like the pairing so there's not much for me to say there. I thought the last scene was extremely cheesy (what with the clapping and whatnot) but I guess considering they were all chanting how much they hate her in an episode not too long before, it's somewhat fitting. A fairly solid episode, not my favourite of the season but pretty good and I thought it was a good finish to the season. The season does seem a lot lighter than previous seasons (and cheesier, it seems like each episode ends happily and when it doesn't-- there's a lesson to be learned). I'm guessing it's because so many of the actors are newbies, and these characters are too new/fresh/unfamiliar to really get into deep development/tough storylines. I'm hoping next season, they kick it up a notch. Still, I enjoyed the season. | |||

| And the wait for the movie begins... Anyway, good episode. Again we had three plots and they all worked and wove together. Holly J went through some real good character development throughout this season and Charlotte Arnold did a great job over bringing this character to life. She's going to be one of the shows' heavy hitters next season, along with Aislinn and Melinda. The hold-up and shooting had a lot of nice tension build-up (though I knew that nothing serious would happen to anyone, well besides being shot). Holly J's crush on Spinner makes a lot sense and I'm glad she finally opened up to Blue. The sub-plot was cute. Bring on more Niners, show. I'm glad they gave Alli a rest because Claire and KC really needed the time to make-up and finally start dating (KClaire? ClaireC?). And Connor's noticing social situations more, yay! Peter and Mia were....Peter and Mia. That's pretty much it. So overall, season 8 was fricking awesome and knocks season 7 down one spot to my favorite season list (1. Season two, 2. Season four, 3. Season eight, 4. Season 7, and 5). Season three). Though people who say Degrassi sucks now, take off your nostalgia tinted glasses. This show NEEDED new blood like crazy. __________________ Refreshing like a spring breeze. | |||

| My thoughts: TBH, I skipped through all parts but Spolly J. I don't care for KC, I don't like Clare, either. I love, love, love Charlotte and hope Holly J gets even more interesting and in depth episodes next season. I wish she had somehow been involved in Degrassi from the start--that we could've seen her and Heather somehow. I think it would've worked, but then again, I like the way they introduced her. Still don't get why she went to Lakehurst, and Heather was at Degrassi...but whatever. I like how Holly J had a crush on Spin and they seem to be solid, good friends. I'll take that. The hospital scene was touching and made me long for more than just friendship, tbh. I think my Spane days are about done...lol. So yeah. Waiting on the movie now. | |||

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | "Did it work? Is it fixed?" Ha! I love Connor. Add me to those who really liked this episode. It totally makes sense that Holly J would develop a crush on Spin, especially since it seems likely that her school-related activities have been cut down dramatically over the last few months. They did a great job with the development we've seen from her this season. You could really see throughout this episode, both in the way she stepped up when Spin got shot and the way she opened up to the robber and, finally, of course, Blue. I also got a kick out of the fact that Mia was the one who first noticed Holly J at the dance. Those two always seem to have something to do with their plots. Speaking of Mia, the plot of Peter trying to get her back was....eh....okay. I don't really have much opinion of them as a couple one way or the other, they're just kind of.....there. That said, I did love the "Man, you've got to give this up,"/"Man, I can't" exchange between Sav and Peter. Oh and gotta love Degrassi showing their Canadian pride in having them play that video game with Takin' Care of Business. ![]() As for the Minor Niner plot, I loved it. From Connor doing better in social situations but still not noticing how that girl liked him. From just the simple fact of KC still being pissed at Clare to that great awkward first kiss at the end, to perhaps best of all, that goofy Risk shout out. It was all golden. Memo to the producers: let the boys do more next season. If this is considered the end of the season, it was a good one and they continue the strong effort from last season of working in new characters into the show and developing a strong base for the show to continue into the future. | Wow I can't believe Seaon 8 is essentially over, it seriosuly flew by, and every week I was excited for each episode, which did not happen last season. Holly J. is now in my top 10 fav. characters of all time after this episode. And I'm glad she finally was honest with Blue, even though I htink she would have rpefered to be with Spinner. 9ersplot was good, but I wasn't fond of Sam's acting, i don't know there was something about it I didn't like. But Clare and Connor did well this episode. I'm glad they finally gave Alli a break because they were begining to run her dry and I was getting a bit tired of her, just like Mia in the begginging of the season. I'm not happy Pia is once again reunited and I hope they end quickly next season....I want some Piley;p | |||

| I thought the episode was decent, not great, but it was ok. Quote:
Holly J is certainly a lot better of a character then when she started out. She has grown up a little by not sticking her fingers in peoples food all the time and calling random kids toads. She used to be a really annoying and they tried to hard to make her a bitch that it was just pathetic. She's still not one of my favorites, but definitely not as lame as a character as she used to be.Glad to see Blu again too. The problem with him is that I just feel like he is supposed to be portrayed as a really interesting guy, but he just isn't. Hopefully they fix that next season and give him some good character development. I will admit that Holly J and Spinner do have chemistry...but more so as friends. And I hope it stays that way. Her crush on him is cute and understandable, I just hope it never goes anywhere. I LOVE Spinner and Jane and hope that this is the relationship Spinner will stick with. ![]() As for the subplots......I was hoping Mia and Peter were actually done for, but whatever. Hopefully they break up next season and Mia and Danny get a shot. I don't really care too much for Kc/Claire/Conner....so whatever. But it was nice seeing Alli/Johnny dancing together.... I love them. ![]() This whole season was actually pretty good. I am not as big as a degrassi fan as I used to be, but I think lots of these new characters still need some more development, which I think will get taken care of next season. If there are going to be any more new characters next season (and I am sure there will be) I hope for some really original, interesting ones and unique ones. So yeah, good season, but I am a little scared about the movie. Last edited by LidelKewte : 04-14-2009 at 08:27 PM. | |||

| I think this episode was held up by good acting and interesting characters. The actual storyline of Spin getting shot in a hold up of a coffee shop kind of wasn't realistic, especially because I couldn't believe Noah Reid as a bad guy. I kept waiting for the rest of the science club to show up through a worm hole. So glad they handled Holly J's crush very well. It could have gone very wrong, but it was done gracefully. Jane doesn't hate Holly J, Holly J doesn't do anything mean out of jealously, Spin knows but isn't weirded out, things can stay simple and the friendship can survive without anything getting messy. I did love them together though, their little interactions, and Holly J was right, Spin really is one of the only people so far she's let see the real her. They had some cute moments but now isn't the right time with Spin still totally in love with Jane. Now that Holly J opened up to Blue, I think they'll move forward with that storyline and Holly J's continuning development from a mean girl to a fully rounded character. KC/Claire/Connor was adorable. I wasn't expecting to get invested in the new characters at all, but these three are so cute together. Mia/Peter and Sav/Anya were blah. __________________ Katie Fitch HBIC. Nicole{icon:winter_lace @ LJ} | |||
