Sick of Eclare? Need a place to vent? You are not alone!

If you are an Eclare fan posting your frustrations with this ship in this thread, or if you are just curious, be aware that you may not agree with or like a large portion of what is said in this thread. Know that this is an anti-thread, not a debate thread.

If you wish to bash Eli or Clare individually, there are threads for that. If you dislike Clare, for example, and want to talk about why, please use the anti-Clare thread. This thread is for those who dislike Eli and Clare together, not separately.

I definitely think they should have broken up! I'm not understanding why Eli got so crazy like this! He's getting too obsessive over Clare. 1. Because Eli was barely developed as his own character before he started liking Clare, and having all of his plotlines somehow connected to hers. This can lead people to conclude that the ONLY reason for his existence was as a romantic interest for Clare.
2. Because Clare's entire life revolves around Eli these days.
3. Because, since they have hooked up, they have BARELY interacted with other people at all.
4. Because, speaking of which, as they started to like each other, Adam just became third-wheel. Do they even knows he exists anymore?
5. Because it's all that 75% of the fandom wants to talk about these days.
6. Because it has showed how Clare is a hypocrite with a serious case of denial. She put down Drew for Alli and told her she was worth more than that (by the way, since when were they friends again?), yet Eli was one of the primary people responsible for the lockdown due to a fight with Fitz that he had SEVERAL opportunities to end. But, for some reason, he kept pushing and pushing. Then Clare forgives him just like that since there's no way Eli could ever make mistakes.
7. Because, like it or not, we know that a lot of why this couple is popular is because of wish-fullfilment. That's right. Eli is the misunderstood bad emo boy, and Clare is the formally nerdy girl that young females can see themselves as, and she'll heal his heart with her twu wub.
8. Because Eclare started out almost the exact same way that Klare did two seasons ago. Yeah, Degrassi loves reusing plotlines, but it's proof that this isn't as original of a romance storyline as certain fans make it out to be.
9. Because they dinner scene with Eli and Clare's parents was extremely similar to the dinner scene involving Manny, her parents, and Jay only two seasons back. Again, more lack of originality.
10. Because they are the Twilight of Degrassi.
11. Because Éclairs are sweet. Eclare is not.
12. Because they are like bad Mary Sue fan fiction.
13. Because they are KC/Clare v2.0 and Eli/Julia v2.0... NOT original.
14. Because Romeo and Juliet isn't a love story. It's a tragedy.
15. Because Eli's dad can't wait to get his hands on that sex tape!
16. Because remember when Degrassi had episodes about other characters? Neither do we.
17. Because these two have way more chemistry than EClare.
18. Because a great character in Adam is reduced a cheerleader to prop them up. Plus he feels like the third wheel.
19. Because they try to appear smart by having them talk, talk, talk and be intellectuals. That gets boring fast.
20. Because Clare has magical healing powers when any problems face their relationship. (eg. Eli's hoarding)
21. Because Clare feels suffocated by this relationship and so do we!
22. Because their romance has turned from a fairytale into abusive and creepy.
23. Because even Keke Palmer agrees they are unhealthy!

24. Because an email should not forgive cheating.
25. Because they stole Prom King and Queen from Drew and Bianca.
26. Because they made Cam's suicide into an Eclare plot.
27. Because he went through her journal and got mad at her about it.
28. Because his NYU application project was uninspired.
29. Because third time isn't the charm.

And do Connor and Jenna count as honorary members? They seemed to make a few disses at them in Zombie.

True, but then Connor became obsessed with their love life. I also found it really pathetic that Jenna and Alli were mad at him, because someone actually dared to call out Clare.

I don't think there is anything TPTB can do to redeem them for me - so mute button. I just don't care. But they are here. They are always going to be here. I feel like it has been indoctrinated into the show. So all of their drama? It really isn't exciting or making me want to watch because Eclare will be endgame and drama will likely continue to cycle around them. I have one small sliver of hope; TPTB have to be scrapping the bottom of the Eli sob story/Eclare love saga barrel by now though. What else can they possibly do? Oh we can't keep KC around because we see no more storylines in him...but Eclare...hmmm....

That post really made me laugh, Nicole. I didn't realize it was a reference until the video. I was like "where is she pulling these out of?".

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Eli drops out and they have a wedding after Clare's graduation. It's stupid and out of character, which is perfectly consistent for both of them at this point. I honestly don't know what the show will do without them (in a bad way). Sure, seasons 8 and 9 got a lot of trash but at least they divided up screen time and it wasn't just between one couple. I'm worried they'll try too hard to create another Eclare, not that they haven't already.

Clare and Eli? Sadly yes. Even after cheating on each other they are still together.

I understand Degrassi wanted one couple that lasted through high school and wanted it to be Eclare but it just didn't work.
