That's one I think I might try to watch. Jahmil marked the one-year anniversary of the Raptors winning the NBA title. It feels like it was a decade ago. As always, we won't hold our breath on this lasting.

@jahmilfrench you will always hold such a special place in my heart. Thank you for being one of the most talented, compassionate, kindest, funniest friends I have. You were so loved. Sharing some of my fav pics over the years to highlight his bright light. I’ll miss our dance offs.

‪Heartbroken over the loss of our friend Jahmil French. We started on Degrassi the same year and I’ll never forget the day I met him. Jahmil was so full of energy and absolute joy to be around. The video on the last slide is how I always think of him. He was such a special person and I’m so grateful for the memories we made. I still can’t believe it. Gone way too soon. He will be so missed by us all.

I kept hoping this was mistake as there didn't seem to be any confirmations. Sadly, it wasn't. This is so awful.



stephenstohn- My heart goes out to the entire Degrassi community., but particularly of course to those who were closest with Jahmil. We have lost one of our own. Jahmil was kind, intelligent, extremely talented, and just a wonderful person. He was also of course an incredible dancer, and since I am the exact opposite we had a running joke that I had taught him all his dance moves. When I would completely ineptly do the Moonwalk, Jahmil would cheer me on, while everyone else would beg me to stop! RIP Jahmil French, your soul and presence are sorely missed.

I have been thinking about his scenes with Jordan in....I forget the name of the episode...the big trans bathroom debate. It wasn't just the writing that made that fantastic twist from bad guy to good, it was Jahmil.

The official Degrassi social media pages have a comment from Linda.



degrassi- “I am heartbroken to hear about the loss of Jahmil. Jahmil was an extraordinary talent and a bright light on and off the screen. He was a joy to work with on Degrassi: The Next Generation. He brought an authenticity and burst of life to every scene he was in and infused his character ‘Dave’ with an airy lightness. Off screen Jahmil would always make me smile. He will be deeply missed.”

As we move through this tread we'll share more from his co-stars and our own memories of him, but you always how much of a family the Degrassi community is in these situations and seeing a pair of original TNG cast members post about his death proves that.

I hope someone lets Spencer know (and he can say something to ease my grief in return). He was asking in this post, shared by a Toronto Boxing Club Jahmil was employed by. This is hard hearing Jahmil speak but wow, what a wonderful thing for them to share.
