Is it bad that I kinda hoped that Bianca said no?

I find it weird that Drew all of a sudden wants to get married. A high school marriage seems bad because there's still so much you can do in life. (But then again Nathan and Hayley got married in high school. Look at them now..OTH reference) Bianca needs someone better.

Not bad at all. I wished she would've said no as well.

Bianca has a plan for where her life is going, but at the moment Drew doesn't. If Drew had his own life plan, then maybe I'd be on board with the whole engagement. But, of course, that's not the case, and I'm not on board.

So far the Drew and Bianca marriage proposal has been very romantic, very head in the clouds. I have to say that I'm looking forward to the moment when there isn't any fluff and these two are in for a rude awakening. I think Mama Torres will play a big factor in that. But I'm afraid that Bianca is going to lose her as a support system. It's been so awesome to see her step up and support B. This is really going to be painful when that relationship crumbles. I don't know how it can't.

I don't know how much it's going to crumble. I think these two have become one of the show's golden couples.

Last night I watched the episode in which Bianca does Drew's health homework. So, in that episode, Fiona, Dallas and his mother all (justifiably) get on him for acting like a baby and Bianca? She does his homework. Ugh.

Yeah, I'm doubtful too that this "golden couple" won't face the harsh realities if they go through this engagement. But at the same time if you were TPTB wouldn't you want to portray a teen couple who rushes into an adult commitment and doesn't understand all the responsibilities that come with it? There's probably a 50/50 shot that Bianca moves into the Torres household as Drew's forever and ever. I can see him pushing for this. We just have to hope that Mama Torres will push back and encourage the head injury case and his nurse out on their own to learn a lesson. (This whole concussion thing is becoming more and more irritating. I feel like it is this crutch to every storyline like 'oh no, you can't criticize this guy, he bumped his head! Be worried!')

While I appreciate all that the Torres family has done for her, I think she has to realize that she can exist without them. I think that would be a much more satisfying end to her character than whatever future she has with Drew...who can do nothing. His mother does it all.

Adam talking about messing up with another girl to get the right one, and then Drew says he knows how he feels as the camera lingers on Bianca.

I'm sure the shippers were happy as peach, and bless them for that.

Me? I was

This Vegas episode.....ugh, really kinda dreading this whole thing.

Can someone explain to me how a high school senior...excuse me, grade 12...can win a trip to Vegas at a school event? Why did principal Simpson ever think this was a good prize? I can't remember the episode that well but I don't remember any adults in the audience to bid on the tickets. And if a child can win a ticket for a vacation, shouldn't it be mandatory that their parent or guardian accompany them? ESPECIALLY TO A PLACE LIKE VEGAS AKA THE PLACE THAT IS KNOWN AS SIN CITY.

This whole storyline is just irritating. I know it is all set up to be a fun adventure but this is so unreal...not as bad as Degrassi Goes Hollywood but it is pretty bad. Why not do a senior class trip episode? A lot of craziness happens on those. I believe a class at my school got senior class trips banned for a couple years. They went to Winnipeg. Oh the irony.

Well, I liked Degrassi Goes to Hollywood (most of it, at least), but this....well, I'm hoping against hope that the other plot works for me.

Fiona was the one who bid on the tickets and she is technically an adult right? The whole money issue is still ridiculous though.

I find it more ridiculous that Katie and co are going there at the same time. If she really wanted to gamble, aren't there local casinos or rsl clubs or something?

Not to mention that the gambling age is 21! That's what's annoying me the most. No way the casinos are going to not check IDs, or simply accept fakes.

Really I'm only posting here because I'm so pre-emptively annoyed about the Vegas special and the stupid wedding...

But, in rewatching season 12, something occurred to me. Something very very obvious occurred to me. And then I started to wonder, is this intentional? Is this supposed to be a good thing? Have shippers of this couple picked up on this, and are they okay with it? Do they relish in this? They must have picked up on it. I mean it's so, so obvious.

Do you know what I'm getting at?

Are we supposed to ignore the fact that Bianca is Audra?!!

THINK ABOUT IT. This has been alluded to so many freaking times. The way that Bianca and Audra have this natural connection. How many times has Audra mentioned that Bianca reminds her of herself when she was young? THEY EVEN LOOK ALIKE. We've known since day one that Drew has mommy issues. And Degrassi decided to take this concept to its natural conclusion: he has a complete, psychology textbook-worthy Oedipus complex. Drew is basically in love with his mother.

Am I the only one completely disturbed by this?

^ We can only hope that the writers are actually going to teach us a lesson and are laying out groundwork for an episode called "LOVEFOOL" of all things. There are things that Bianca and Drew want and are trying to achieve with each other that they have to realize isn't going to pay off in the long term. Bianca's character would be much more successful and complete if she realized her potential and was independent. Drew wants to be considered an adult but most of his ambitions come across as looking childish since he is rebelling against his mother. His heart is not in the right place.

Drew and Bianca are basically in a weird love triangle with Audra. Bianca seems just as preoccupied with pleasing her and finding a place in the family as she is with Drew. She only agrees on marriage to spite her. I understand it and that means that I think she needs to be more secure with her past and future to fit in. And how can you possibly take Drew's feelings seriously when he has this battle going on with mom? The whole wedding is taking place just to prove Audra wrong. It isn't something that is a declaration of love.

It really bothers me that both Drew and Bianca chose each other over Audra (not to mention that it is basically a false choice that Drew set up. Audra was supportive of them together. She is just also a reasonable person that recognizes the obviously bad situation they are headed for. Are they really going to live off his mall salary forever?)
Also, the show just seems to get sloppy whenever these guys are around (and I don't just mean that their storyline is bad). Mall salary? Six digits. Head injury? Miraculously healed. Student drops out of high school and moves out of his parents' home? No need to explore it further. We'll focus on the ship instead. Ugh.

Not to mention the most obvious -- that Bianca has spent her entire tenure on the show as little more than Drew's doormat. It pains me to say this because for some bizarre reason I still do like Bianca, but she is easily the biggest disappointment of every character on the show (at least since season 10). She is and always has been Drew's girlfriend, and nothing else. She is simply a plot device so Drew can work out his mommy issues.
