Reasons we don't want to see Kevin Smith on Degrassi again:
1. Because he doesn't want his appearance to be the jump the shark moment? Yeah right.
2. Because he broke up Joey and Caitlin, the power couple of old school and new school Degrassi.
3. Because apparently he thinks he can just waltz in and create plot lines to fit his own Mary Sue fantasies.
4. Because he's ruining our love for our favorite movies.
5. Because "Stacy starts talking about the time she got a viral infection while on the Degrassi set and everyone quickly talks over her and yells out "WHAT? VAGINAL INFECTION?" Kevin Smith then says to Stacy "your diaphragm goes down below, not in your throat". He said this to Caitlin Ryan. Upon hearing these words, I yelled out "WHAT?" so loudly that my cats left the room...they NEVER do that."

6. Because Kevin Smith AGAIN in season 8? Are we being punished for something?
7. Because having celebrity appearances on Degrassi do not make it special.
8. Because we don't want our love for Degrassi to be associate with Kevin Smith.
9. Because the Degrassi world and Kevin Smith world just don't mix.
10. Because we miss the days when they were normal kids.
11. Because it's unrealistic that they are hanging out in Hollywood or with celebrities.
12. Because why aren't the special episodes filmed in Canada?!
13. Because we are getting the impression the show isn't proud of where it's based.

Grrr. Before we get this thing rolling, I just have to say that we'll have to keep it limited to Kevin's appearances on Degrassi, or his creative involvement rather. He's still a real person, so we have to be careful about respecting him as a director (which I think most of us do on some level), but we can still totally discuss the episodes, the writing, etc.

I hate what he did to Jaitlin. If he has a crush on Caitlin, fine. But he doesn't need to make sure those eps favor it!

I just don't understand why TPTB think that the Degrassi world colliding with the Kevin Smith world is a good idea. It just doesn't mix. And they give him to much power. I couldn't believe it when I read that he refused to appear on Degrassi unless if they gave him 3 episodes. His shout outs to Degrassi in his movies are cute and I used to enjoy hearing his stories about how Degrassi is his favorite show, but why does he get this huge pay off by being allowed to live out his fantasy in our Degrassi? And if he respected the show's attempt to address issues that kids face and the realism it tries to have, why come in and be like Oh, we're going to make a movie here! It just grates.

I think I'm kinda more pissed off more than others because I really was looking forward to him appearing in Season 4. I didn't know what to expect but I knew he was coming on and seeing Jay and Silent Bob do those skits in that I Love the 90's skit made me all "They are Degrassi fans! And their episodes are coming!" I listened to that interview he did with Linda and was very interested in what he had to say. And then the episodes happened. I feel it was the jump the shark moment in the show. It sort of glamorized the show in a way - now they go to movie premieres , get record deals and get to play with rock bands, and seem to be having more success in the entertainment industry than the average kid would have.

I love Kevin Smith and his movies, and I love Degrassi....BUT NOT TOGETHER! It is just ridiculous. The post right above me pretty much sums up why I hate it. This show is supossed to be about average teenage kids and then they come on the show in season4 and they have this big movie premiere in an episode and it really did feel like it took away the realism of it.

Even then, they could've gotten a random filmmaker to come in. Like if he/she was a struggling filmmaker and decided to cast some of the kids, it would've read as more realistic. Instead, he just happens to be a fan of Ryan's Planet, and happens to be in Canada scouting for a movie? What? Then, he comes back not once, not twice, but three times!

I agree with all those who posted above.
It just ruined the realism for me.
And for the record, this is the first time I'm hearing about his demanding three episodes... whaaat? I didn't know that. Where have I been?
And yeah, THREE times. I didn't like one time, but now it's three... a bit overkill, even for those who may have enjoyed his appearances, no?

I didn't know he demanded three eps either. That just makes me dislike him more. Oh, and the Stacey thing's nasty to me.

I wish I could give you a direct source or quote of where I read or heard that he would only appear for an "arc" instead of a single episode. I can't remember - it was in one of the many media mentions that his episodes got back in season 4. In that media release I also remember him saying that he suggested to the writers that he "come inbetween" Joey and Caitlin and TPTB said they could make that happen. I don't dare say that KS DEMANDED that he would only appear under those conditions but I really wouldn't doubt it. It just disgusts me. Are Kevin Smith and Degrassi that desperate for media attention that they play off each other for media attention? You know that's what these ~special~ "Hollywood" episodes are about. Degrassi wants it's attention. It's pathetic.

I am so excited for the new season because it seems to be going back to it's roots with the minor niners and high school firsts. And these ~special~ Hollywood episodes might erase what realism this season is trying to give us.

I agree about the many different ways the whole KS appearances in Season 4 could have played out. They should have done something else because his preoccupation with the school and it's students just ends up looking disturbing. Why not call him alumni? SOMETHING to explain his desire to shoot at the school and make it's students the stars of his movie. I don't mind some of his interacting with the kids - his scenes with Craig are entertaining to me and I liked his message to Paige about how there's a spectrum to sexuality. But everything else is so over the top.

SIGN ME UP FOR THIS PLEASE. I made an anti-Kevin Smith secret in Degrassi Secrets too! I have to go find it now. I also feel the need to clarify that I like Kevin Smith. I think he's a very funny guy and Jersey Girl is one of the cutest movies ever (although most people probably wouldn't agree, lol). But, every time he's on Degrassi he ruins the show and worse (!) he makes me ashamed to be from New Jersey.

Okay I added everyone. Ugh, I am so scared of these "special" episodes featuring him. There's a part of me that hopes that it all ends up being just one giant "What If" because I don't know any of is ever going to make any sense. Whenever KS appears, it's like it's a whole different Degrassi where having success in the entertainment industry comes so easy to them. They aren't real anymore at all. And certainly not relatable. Why do this to Degrassi?
