I actually thought Cranny would return, but for closure. Maybe it still is closure, because I think the writers are going to have Manny move away from her feelings for Craig this season. She's been holding onto them for a loooong time. However, if the writers had known of Mel's departure before say WEG, then they purposely put in the Ash/London thing so she could go, and perhaps they were planning something else for Ash to go through which included Craig.

If GDTR never happened I wasn't expecting a Cranny reunion. But I KNEW that they were gonna do something with those two since they never really had closure. If Ashley was coming back I don't think that Cranny would have gotten together either. But I still think that they would have these two interact in a plot. They were kind of dug Cranny in a hole in season 4. I can't see how they could of possibly gotten together with Ashley around. Wheather CrAsh still had feelings for each other or not.

Actually if they WERE making Cranny the 'super meant to be love conquers all couple' they WOULDN'T have them get back together so soon. I think that they would focus on a friendship first and then have sparks fly at the VERY end of the season. If that made any sense.

No couple, even Crash, got together as quickly. I mean, you have couples like Spaige who hook up mid-season in Shout and last for a long time. Same thing happened with Jiberty and Crash. We know Cranny's happening in the first eight eps, I would bet the first six, and unlike the other couples that hooked up mid-season, we had hints in the premiere. Cranny interaction in Venus most likely won't happen, but if they want Panny, the writers are on the right track.

I like what you said, Kathy. I think the writers had decided on Crash; I still hope this continues or they'll leave Craig single. Perhaps Peter will trouble the waters. For me, I thought they'd do a little fling with Cranny while Crash took some time apart, but end on Crash. Perhaps this will happen if Mel returns later in the season. Whatever the case, I never and still don't think Cranny will last as long as Crash.

I think in a lot of ways, TPTB at Degrassi put couples together for one reason- to split them up. I don't really see any "love conquers all" couple that will last very long. I think we'll even see some rough patches in the road for Spike & Snake.

I know that doesn't make it the most romanatic of shows, but that seems to be the history of the series, even going back to DJH/DH.

I do agree with that, completely.

What I was saying was I don't think that they will make Cranny a supercouple and give them the same status as Eman and (wheather you agree with it or not) Crash.

I do think Spike/Snake and Jt/Liberty are the only couples that will make it. I would be in shock if Spike and Snake got a divorce. Even if it is Degrassi. It might be interesting if they had a seperation briefly and Emma had to deal with them living in 2 serperate places though.

Well, I agree with that. The only DH couple that lived happily ever after was Simon/Alexa, and they were so background, it made perfect sense. But most don't get the "love conquers all" or even a happy ending. If they can't give Jaitlin one on the new series, I'm not expecting much.

Okay, now that I know who Peter is, I'm even more intrigued. It'd be so predictable if they paired him with Emma. I mean, Sean wasn't all bad, and Jay's no angel. Speaking of Jay, I really wonder where the writers are going to take his character, and even though I like Jalex, I think the writers might try something with Emjay for the simple fact that Deanna's leaving after this season. But yeah, I'm not sure if the writers will try Pemma or Panny. My gut says Panny, but my head says Pemma. But maybe he's a player.

I doubt Peter will seriously get involved with anyone at the begninng of the season. I think they will have him go crazy in Venus and by the end he will be toned down. But it does sound like they are keeping him around so he will get with someone eventually.

I don't think they are done with the Crash/Ash storyline though. Even if they don't get back together.

I can't see how they could be done, especially if Melissa doesn't show up in Venus. I can see Melissa returning towards the end of the season, and especially for the movie.

Kathy, I thought about what you said and I think it makes sense. Like Craig, they may just have Peter interact with everyone, and perhaps pair him up with someone later in the season (like they paired up Crash). The best way for Peter to shake things up would be to remain single. I still think he might factor into Cranny, or Emjay, or another new couple. I'm one of the few that think Emjay is highly plausible.

Now, regarding Jay, with Sean gone, he's the resident bad boy. Now, before you say anything about Peter, I get the sense he's more like a male verson of the first season Paige- often very sweet with their words, but always up to something. Although, we'll have to wait for sure on that. Anyway, back to Jay, he's still a bad boy, and like it not, bad boys get action on these shows. Now, whether it's with Emma (which I too think is most likely), or Paige or Ellie or someone else, he's going to hook up with one of main characters this season. I really think that's almost a given. There's always Alex, but I'm having trouble seeing a reunion between those two in the future.

Jay is going to be tied to someone, because everyone loves a bad boy. I was thinking Darcy as well, but now it might be Spin/Darcy, which makes more sense to me, even though I'm not for it. Jay just seems likely to me because I felt the writers were holding him and Spin back for a reason besides the shooting. I think the writers might've liked Mike and Miriam's chemistry, and they do have fan support. Plus wouldn't it be shocking if Emjay happened? I also get the sense that Peter is more layered or will become more layered. Peter's more predictable for Emma than he is Manny.
