Why did the writers invest all that screentime to put him back with Manny?

Perhaps the writers didn't know Melissa was leaving until later in the 4th season or didn't know if/when she'll be back. Since Cranny has a huge fanbase as well, perhaps the writers decided the please the fans. They also know that the Cranny reunion would shock viewers as well. However because the writers didn't invest much heart or depth into Cranny, I say the writers still prefer Crash.

I agree about the Jimash pairing. It was pretty random to me, but the writers seem to love creating love triangles and complications for characters. I don't think Jimash will last very long.

Why are the girls always taking him back.

Well, it took Ash quite some time (about a year after what happened in "Holiday") to forgive Craig and take him back. Craig had to prove himself and do much apologizing. She was pretty hurt after what he did and probably still loved him. She was pretty hesistant as well in ND. I'm not so sure in Manny's case, but I have a feeling it's due to other issues (which I can't go much into during this thread).

Personally I don't think it was bad for Ash to take Craig back seeing as they rebuilt their friendship and she honestly just fell in love with him again. As far as why he goes back and forth, well my opinion on that is stated in another thread!

But I will say that I think if Ash had not left there's no question to me which girl they would've kept him with.

To me he obviously just felt he needed to move on and he went to familiar territory so I don't think it takes away from his feelings for Ash.

I think CrAsh's biggest obstacle are themselves.

That's what bothered them last time, their inability to control their feelings around one another. Now it's more complicated because they've been out of touch, and don't know what the other wants. And I'm sure we'll see a return of that down the line. Ashley's got this free spirit that doesn't like to get too close, and Craig's the guy that's afraid to lose it all again. So they have to knock the barriers down together. I think they can do it.;

I think Craig still gets the girls because the writers set him up as the heartthrob. Just strum a couple guitar strings and the girls melt.

Within the show, though, I think Manny's infatuated with him, and Ashley wanted to give him another chance. Ellie just grew attracted to him after spending the summer with him. Craig'll probably end up alone on a hotel room floor, holding a picture of Ash and screaming "Whyyyy?"

Typical Degrassi angst.

Jimash was just random, thrown together because Melissa came back, and Jimmy was a past boyfriend. It's too safe, so I don't think that's going anywhere. Plus I think both Ash and Jimmy are looking for redemption, and the writers will make us like them again after they pulled some not so nice stuff in Venus/IAI. Still, that'll fizzle out. Who knows? Maybe Jazel will end up back together.

I think Ashley had more of a reason to take Craig back. She didn't jump back in his arms as soon as they made up or whatever. Not to mention, Craig is the one who originally asked Ashley out back in season two. So I don't think his "heartthrob" status has ever been a factor as to why Ashley was ever with him. It has everything to do with why Manny wants to be with him, she fell in love with him after only one cheesy date. But Ashley knows Craig a lot better. Not to mention he has given her enough reason to trust him again.

Lately, the only time Craig has been a jerk is as far as Manny is concerned, because I didn't consider his "rejection" to Ellie mean spirited whatsoever. It showed how much he cared about her and her friendship. Ellie use to think Craig was a "once a cheater always a cheater" kind of guy." But once she got to know him better, and become closer to him(just as Ashley did), she developed feelings for him. Because I honestly don't thnik Ellie is the kind of girl who would just fall for a "heartthrob" either. Manny is the only sucker out of the three girls who has fallen for Craig. People might say the same for Ellie in WPA, but at least they became close friends again and was still considered of importance to him, so it wasn't a total loss.

Anyways, Ashley is probably the luckiest since she never had to chase Craig. We could make a list of all the times it Craig has tried to be with her. And Ashley is not known for being 'hot" or "seductive." She hasn't had to turn on any charm. And she was already a musician so she didn't have to pick up any of his hobbies either.

Hmm....Ash didn't do anything to make me like her any less in Venus.

I think we'll see Jazel together again at some point next season, even it's something similar to Spaige (and the more I think about that reunion, the more frustrated I become, but that's for another time and place). As far as Ashley? I have no names or predictions of who it will be, but I think she'll hook up with someone besides Jimmy or Craig this season- and it will be a relationship that lasts for a decent amount of time.

I agree, though, that Ash will probably date around this year. With who, I don't know. She seemed open to dating around in season 2, and her HF style reminded me of the KC style.

Melanie, that is so true. The line in DIB= "he'd love her for who she is" still applies after all this time. Ashley was just herself, didn't have to push or meddle, and Craig fell for her. That's why I still ship them after all this time. He saw something in her he liked, and the stuff he didn't like (i.e. her outburst in AWH and GDTR) hasn't stopped him from waiting for her or trying to make amends with her.

I guess you could say it's a gut feeling regarding Jimmy and Ashley not lasting, but after what happened last time with those two, I just can't see them revisiting them for very long. It wouldn't even surprise me all that much if the season starts and we find out their "relationship" never progressed beyond that HF kiss.

There's no gut feeling about this, though- they will not keep Ashley single for a whole season.

I really don't have anyone in mind, but some fellas can obviously be ruled out. They include Jimmy and Craig (duh), Marco and Toby. I also think it's safe to assume that Derek and Danny won't factor in here as well. That leaves the rest- and I wouldn't rule out any of them. But, it could end up just being a character that's essentially brought in to be her boyfriend in much the same way that dope Oleander was brought in for Paige.

I'd rather have Ashley/any man other then Jimmy plot, if she HAD to have a boyfriend. It won't matter because I know Crash will factor in some way down the road.

I too agree that the "he'd love her for who she is" thing still applies to Crash, its kind of like their theme. If they put them back together, I don't think anyone will do the chasing this time. They'll probably both gravitate toward the other.

As for building Crash up just for Cranny...I don't think they dropped the Crash build up, I am positive it will have a purpose eventually. That would be too big of a plot hole. Cranny is a filler to me and the Crellie build up hopefully was set up for Ashley to be wrote in if/when Melssia came back.

Omg! I totally thought about that. The thing is I don't know if they'd put Mel with someone shorter than her, and from what I remember from her unscripted she looked like a foot taller then him. I know that sounds superficial, I wouldn't not ship a couple for that reason, but I don't know about the writers. I would love to see Ash go for him though, that would be interesting to watch.
