Although it's never been confirmed one way or the other, I've always thought Maude was a shout out of sorts to the old Bea Arthur sitcom of the 1970s in which her title character had an (hugely controversial for the time) abortion.

that's great that he was sweet, he seems like it!
the first time i met the degrassi stars, i was soooo nervous and babbled a lot but when i met Cassie and Melissa, i talked to them like they were old friends! then the second time i met Cassie, it was the same thing, just like an old friend! though if i met Rupert or Emma, i would probably babble so much! actually if i met Rupert, i would jump on him! __________________
