On A Clear Day (2005)
This is Billy's new short film which is in post-production.
Cast: Peter Mullan .... Frank Brenda Blethyn .... Joan Billy Boyd .... Danny Ron Cook .... Norman Jodhi May .... Angela Sean McGinley .... Eddie Paul Ritter .... Mad Bob Jamie Sives .... Rob Anne Marie Timoney .... Michelle Benedict Wong .... Chan What happens: When Frank loses his job in the shipyards after thirty six years he finds he has nothing to fall back on except his swimming which he has done regularly for the past twenty years. He has had a good marriage even though he has closed up his feelings since the death of his son, Stuart, many years previously. His other son Rob is a stranger to him and the two men cannot reconcile their loss. They bottle their grief up individually. With a group of friends to help and hinder him, Frank embarks upon a personal challenge – swimming the Channel! The story is full of comedy and pathos, but culminates with Frank being reborn to be reconciled with Rob and gaining new love for and from his wife Joan. __________________

From IGN.com:
"I just finished a film called On a Clear Day – a British film," Boyd reveals. "I just finished it the day before yesterday, so I came straight here. It was filmed on the Isle of Man. It's about a couple of guys who try to swim the English Channel. Peter Mullan is in it and Brenda Blethyn." Does that mean he missed the wrap party? "No!" Boyd laughs. "We had the wrap party on the Isle of Man and then had two days more filming down in Dover. It's weird. There are a lot of people living [on the Isle of Man] just not to pay tax, so that's a weird thing. Everyone you meet has had some kind of windfall or sold the business, made a lot of money and went and lived there." |

Even though this is from the beginning of the year I thought people might want to read it.......
Monday 23rd February: On a Clear Day Update: Director Gaby Dellal has managed to keep production going on the Peter Mullan starring On a Clear Day. The project was close to collapse due to losing part of its funding with the recent UK tax law changes. By scaling down the production they will probably be able to finish. __________________

I was watching a film programme last night and a little clip of On a Clear Day was shown. Billy was in this clip, running into the water with some other men.
The film was under the section of upcoming films and the presenter had only good words to say about the film. __________________
