| If "Maggie" Sends you a Postcard!   DO NOT BELIEVE IT! MAGGIE DOESN'T HAVE ANY GOOD NEWS FOR YOU MAGGIE JUST WANTS YOU TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON MAGAZINES YOU DON'T NEED. I fell for this last summer. Basically they trick you into thinking your getting a bunch of magazines for real cheap but I did the math after I agreed to pay (I was so dumb; totally not thinking) and it would have cost me, I kid you not, $700! Luckily I called the next day and was able to cancel. I decided to call them today and mess with them. Well sure enough it's the same deal. You tell them your name and control number and they tell you that they are entering you in a drawing "for $25,000, a new Chevy Blazer, or a vacation!" Then after that they go on telling you they are going to give you not one, not two, but SEVEN free magazines. I called and talked to some lady and acted really excited, making to sure and asked if I could get Playboy as one of my subscriptions and she said of course. Then she transferred me to someone and he said "Hi I need your address." I told him, "Ok let me go get it." I spent a few minutes yelling and whatnot and I come back and say, "I'm sorry I'm new and I don't know my address," to which he responds, I kid you not, "Oh I can TOTALLY understand." Um, why would I not know my address when IT'S PRINTED RIGHT ON THE POSTCARD YOU SENT ME! Anyways finally I said, "Sorry I can't find it but thanks anyways, bye." Then a few minutes later my phone rings, but I didn't answer it. After that I called back and demanded that they remove me from their records. The moral of the story is, if Maggie (who doesn't even exist) sends you a postcard with "Good News," it's a big fat SCAM. | |||
