I Love the Renaissance Faire.

I went there last Saturday (I went when I was younger, too), and I had the best time. It was so much fun, and the outfits (especially the dresses) are gorgeous. If you particularly enjoy that time period, I think your enjoyment will be increased 10 fold.

Anyone else been to one?

I haven't been to one but I've always wanted to go. I love the outfits from way back then too. They're so detailed, fragile and intricate. Do the people at the fair speak like the people from that era too?

Yes, at the local Renaissance Faire here in Nashville they do.

I love going to the Renaissance Faire. I try to go every other year. At the local Faire, actors walk around in period costumes from Queen Elizabeth to drunkards sleeping in the street. The Faire is located in a heavily wooded area, and the actors will approach you and ask you questions. There is a jousting tournament, a human chess match, a "Globe"-ish type theatre, a minstrel show, and tons of arts and crafts booths. Oh, and food booths with food from the Renaissance era (as well as the present, too).

I've always wanted to go to one. There aren't any (that I know of) in my neck of the woods though.

They had many people dress up at my faire, too (in Kenosha, WI) but no one came up and talked to us, presumably because I wasn't in a costume. I wanna get a costume really badly!

I've been to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire a few times. In 9th grade we had to do a big Renaissance project and we went to the fair, so that year I actually had a really nice costume because that was my project. My friends and I all had upper-class gowns so we got bowed to by a few of the actors. Its a fun time.

AuburnGrad - Your faire sounds much bigger than ours does. I've been twice, to the ones we have down here. I'm in St. Louis, Missouri, but the faire is down in Wentzville, Missouri. It's just a little bit of a drive.

We have period food booths and shops, jousting, people in costume, a full regal court ensemble, a puppet show, lots of theatres, a petting zoo, a fairy wood, and gypsies/belly dancing. It's set deep in some woods too, so everything looks very authentic.

I didn't realize they had them in Wentzville -- I've been to the Ren Fests near KC.

My friends are going this month, but I'm not sure I can go. They're going to the one in Pennsylvania.

I went to the 10th Annual Ohio Renaissance Festival back in 1999, because my supervisor at work recommended it. It was great. I went three times that year, and have gone at least once every year since then. It starts again this year at the end of this month and I am going to be attending at least twice. Already purchased the tickets and everything!
