Anyone really good at math? Like advanced classes, such as Abstract Algebra?

OK this is a totally random and weird assignment that have to hand in on Sunday and I was hoping for ideas, heres the assignment:
We have to read 'The Little Prince' and then design sort of like a cage for the little prince, not the typical type of cage, a house also counts as a cage but it has to have a reason for why we do it, anyways, have you guys read the book? I read it and Im having trouble coming up with ideas I was wondering if you could help

Just a thought: what about the Little Prince's reassurance to the Pilot that his dying body is only an empty shell. Isn't a body a cage for our souls?

Hmm, yeah that is a good idea but see, my major is architecture so I think what the professor meant (though Im not sure cause this was our first lesson) was to kind of design like a house, or a cage, design something, its actually a cool idea to design it like his body but ... Im not that good at designing

I hava a question. We were reading this text at work, and this sentence came up: Women frequently use more concessive language than men

What does "concessive language mean?

Thanks valé

Concessive language concedes a point in an argument and uses, for example, words such as although, nevertheless, admittedly, even if, despite, etc.

I wa trying to understand this...they say in the text that women use this kind of language more. Does it mean that they're more open to the different aspects of something being discussed?

Not necessarily... maybe it's more like women are more willing to admit the truth in the opposing argument even if they maintain their own.

I think it's more like a preference they use when trying to be persuasive. It's more convincing when in an argument to first address that you understand the opposing side's point of view, then raise your own point to show the difference based on the situation, person, etc. People are generally more likely to listen to you if you expressed that you understood where they're coming from. Because women are generally viewed as being more caring of other people's feelings, they may be seen as using this kind of language more often than men.

Yes, that makes more sense.

Logic

D: I need some college-level Logics help.

The example on my take home quiz is:
If you live in a glass house, then you shouldn't throw stones.

I would abbreviate it as g → ~s.

My professor wants us to write it in the inverse, the converse, and the contrapositive.

To turn it into inverse, one has to negate both sides. So, I'm not sure if g → ~s would become ~(~g → ~s), or if it becomes ~g → ~s.

To turn it into converse, one has to interchange the hypothesis & conclusion (reverse the letters), which definitely becomes ~s → g.

To turn it into contrapositive, one has to reverse both sides, then negate both sides. Which leaves me with the same problem I['m having with inverse.

I need to get 100% on this quiz. And I'm so confused when it comes to negating stuff

^ The abbreviation you're using is what confuses me a bit, frostie. (Is that what your professor told you to use? ) So, the original statement is, "If you live in a glass house, then you shouldn't throw stones" (g → s), right? Then I believe it should be written as follows:

Converse:
If you shouldn't throw stones, then you live in a glass house. (s → g)

Inverse:
If you should throw stones, then you don't live in a glass house. (~s → ~g)

Contrapositive:
If you don't live in a glass house, then you should throw stones. (~g → ~s)

I used Google to double check myself (because it's been a while since I took a logistics/math class) but I'd wait until someone who is better with math comes along to give a more definitive answer. Good luck on the quiz!
