Not a fan of math.
I had a hard time in school with math, too. It's a good thing that there are people here who like to help with homework questions.

Do you mean materials that are not up to standard building codes? I did a search for "substandard building materials" and came up with lots of links.

A few examples:
The Tide Online
Northridge Earthquake Photos 5/28/4
Tianjin tightens control over radioactive stone building materials

Or could this be about non-standard building materials? I'm thinking specifically of straw bale houses--that isn't typical building material but it works just fine and there's nothing actually wrong with it. Amazing things are being done wtih straw bale building by this group: Home | Red Feather Development Group.

Hey everyone I've never really posted in here before, but I think it's way cool that there is an OT board .

I have to read Wuthering Heights for school summer reading. I am on chapter two, and I was wondering.. does it get any better!?!?!? Should I just sparknote it or should I really read the whole book?

We're glad you're posting here.

Read the whole book. But also read the Sparknotes.

Remember that people in different eras used language, manners, and attitudes differently--this is a great way to learn what life was like in another time, so be open-minded and don't try to judge the book on the way things are now. Reading the book will not only be a means of learning an interesting story but it can also give you a trip back in time.

Even if you don't love the book (and I admit to not being a Bronte fan myself) there is still a great deal to be gained by toughing it out and reading the whole thing. You'll be glad you didn't give up on it.

The Sparknotes can help you keep track of plotlines and characters and events. They really can be a good secondary help but they should never be a primary source.

You might also consider renting a movie of Wuthering Heights to give you a sense of what the times looked like. Also you might watch the movie before you read the book--sometimes it's easier to read a difficult book when you have some idea of plot and emotional climate before you begin.

Note to students who use Sparknotes and Cliff's Notes: Some of these manuals contain factual errors that you may not know about but your professors surely will. And they can tell if you've just read the notes simply by asking one or two questions when you are tested. I used to teach literature, so I can assure you that this is the case and I've known students who were caught out by reading only the notes.

I'm reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I'm up to Chapter 3 and I feel like I'm being tortured.
Does it get good?

Perhaps you could be more specific about what help you need?

That was one of my mother's favorite books. Just think of it as a time capsule from a different era, and try to imagine why people acted and spoke differently.
