I have a good enough insight I think, what is it you need help with specifically? Let me know, I may be able to help you.

Guys, I have a language question. I've got a sentence or rather a question I suspect isn't quite correct. I have a suspicion but I'd like to have a native speaker's opinion:

Did he promise our life to be always easy?

Your help is much appreciated

Hey

No problem, how I would say it (I'm British) is

"Did he promise our lives to always be easy?" That makes more sense, in my opinion. If you need further help then just ask away

It's more of a semantics/idiom thing, but I'd say it "Did he promise that our lives would always be easy?"

Hey everyone!
I have an english exam tomorrow and I need your help.
The topic of the exam will be the American Dream. I've already studied everything from the previous lessons but I thought I'd ask you guys, since a lot of you are from the US, about the American Dream. Do you guys think it still exists and if so, is it achievable for everyone today? I've already collected arguments for and against (e.g. high tuition costs, low social mobility, etc.) it to prepare myself for a possible argumentation but I thought I'd look for further arguments. I'd appreciate any kind of help!

^ I think you are on the right track there. The American Dream is all about each person having a chance to increase his/her social standing (upward mobility), own their own house and land, have children, etc. I find there to be a problem with attaining the American Dream in that in order to achieve upward mobility (especially for the middle and upper middle class), this also means moving locations -- typically, to improve one's standing, one must move from one job/position to another and thus locations. However, that goes against the idea of the nostalgic house with white picket fence, 2.5 children, and a dog.

Thanks for your help! I'll add that to my arguments!

I hope this is okay to ask here: I need 50 British respondents for a research project at college and I'm having a little trouble with finding so many people... If there are any UK people out here on who want to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Just let me know through PM or on here and I will contact you w/ the details.

Hi, guys. I'm wondering if anyone here has taken the TOEFL test? I'm set to take it soon and I'm super scared about the essay part. I've been nailing the listening, reading/comprehension and writing multiple choice practice tests but there's no way of really knowing what to expect about that part of the exam. I don't know anyone irl who has taken the test.
