Encouragement: We All Need Someone Else Sometimes!

Sometimes when everything seems impossible it helps to know that someone else believes that you can do something. Let's encourage each other.

....Here's my problem today: I have to finish painting my study. There's just one wall left to paint. But I'm too scared to climb the ladder to do the top of the wall. And I've been waiting for a long time to finish this.

I know why I'm scared--I had a very dreadful fright at the beginning of December when I fell out of my attic. The fall was so bad that I still have bruises on my arms five months later!

Would someone else believe with me that I can climb that ladder? It would really help.

I know you can do well.

Here's a study trick: scent is the strongest memory trigger.

So if you sniff some peppermint while you're studying and then you have a peppermint candy while you take the test you'll remember more of the material! Try it--it really works.

............editing to add that encouragement works, too! I started with the hardest part of the paint job--the shelf above the doors. It's gonna be just fine, and I climbed the ladder without having a panic attack. Thank you, Janet.

I know I haven't been around much but I have one more paper to write, and then I have my presentation for religion class and then three exams afterwards

You definitely have a lot to do but I'm sure that you will do fine.

The most important stuff when you're coping with papers and exams: eat properly even though sweets are even more tempting than usual, sleep even though you think you haven't got time, and remember to breathe.

Lem I'm so glad you are doing that painting.... You will have no problem finishing that strip near the top of the ceiling! And it's going to look AMAZING when you are done!

Janet Do well on that exam!

Kris Hang in there! Take one project at a time, or break them all into manageable chunks

I just need encouragement and support getting through these last stressful weeks at work.... and then summer vacation

Why are you paranoid? Is it because of your baby?

Lem, well done on the painting so far! I'm sure you'll do great on painting the rest - you know you can do it now!

Yuki - the best thing to do if you're feeling paranoid re: the baby is to go visit your doctor and buy a really good reputable pregnancy handbook. (My sister is pregnant now and recommends anything by Dr Miriam Stoppard - check Amazon.) Try not to read too many stories on the internet about pregnancy and childbirth because although some may be helpful, you dont want to worry yourself about it too much!

Carol - It's only a few weeks left now - and just think of the amazing long summer ahead. Also the weather should be perking up soon which can even make work more pleasant.

Good luck for everyone with exams - remember not to get too stressed out and take time out. Also planning is key, so know what you've got to revise and make sure you cover all those points so you go in prepared.

I've got a tutorial tomorrow morning and a ton of essays/reading to get through before I can relax next weekend when my bf comes to visit! Encouragement to get it all done in time will be sooo helpful.

I worried with both my pregnancies constantly. Until the minute my kids were born, and then i worried about them.

Hugz to all! You can do it. Remember "this too, shall pass." Or "in a 100 years, who will care?"

I need encouragement to "just be me" and "relax" around Dan when I see him next time (amazingly this is EXTREMELY difficult) and I love him but I can't let him know that yet! or it will really freak him out.
