Failing exams.

I loatttthhhh school. Is anyone as inconsistent with their marks as me? I could get 95% on a test one day, and the next 30%. It *****s me...but what's sad is I got my maths test today (oh yes, I failed) and I wasn't even that disappointed in doing so bad. I was kind of like ...Maybe I'm approaching it all with the wrong attitude...the "hey, it's only school...not the end of your life" attitude. Might come back to bite me when I get my results at the end of the year and I get all disappointed. Three more terms of high school...I gotta up the anti...

So tell me about some of your worst marks...and how you were able to ace the next exam It'll make me feel a whole lot better

i was really inconsistant in high school,

I think my worst mark ever was 3 Unit maths while was doing year 12, my first term exam mark was 8%... needless to say, i dropped down to a lower level of maths...

i was failing english during yr 11, managed to pick up during year 12, and ended up with a final mark of 64, which was brilliant for me, cos i sucked so bad in english...

my best gain, was business studies, almost failed my trial HSC exam- 52%, then in the HSC i got 90%- so you can definately bring your mark up, you just gotta try!!

Good Luck!!!

That's kind of the position I'm in. I'm not sure whether I should drop down to 2u now or wait until after I've completed the half-yearlys and see how I go there?

I have had so many bad marks in my High School years, especially Maths and Ancient History. I honestly didn't know how I was going to get through the HSC exams on those subjects.

Through my years at High School, I never passed a maths test but at the beginning of Year 12, I got a tutor and I got on well with her, so I kept pushing myself to study for maths and try a lot harder. She helped me a lot with understanding the various topics, especially Algebra.

With Ancient History, I just pulled out all my notes and summarised them and studied really hard.

Luckily, I passed both the exams in the HSC. I was so excited

Good luck with getting higher marks, you can do it if you try really hard

i would recommend dropping it, but it all depends on what uni degree you want to get into, and what other subjects your doing, cos having 3unit will help your UAI, but if you do ok in other subjects, it might not make a difference...

I ended up sitting the HSC in general maths cos i didnt need maths to get into my degree- bachelor of business, I ended up with a 74 UAI, which was ok, not spectacular, but it got me into a degree...

Probably the best thing to do is stick it out till the half yearly's, its a fairly easy transition from 3U to 2U..

My grades were all over the place in high school. I never made lower than a 98 as my final grade in Literature classes, but barely passed Physics with a 71, Algebra II with a 74, and Chemistry with a 75. I just couldn't bring myself to try in classes that weren't my "strong points."

I did pretty well in high school with not too much studying. I remained on the honour roll since grade 8. If I actually studied a lot, I probably could have gotten honours with distinction (90+ average)

Ugh, I just had an bad incident this morning. I didn't pay attention to enough details in my Poli Sci (USSR defacto states) readings and I think I suffered for it.

I'm pretty sure I passed but still. I wanted to do good on it. Damn prof - how the hell am I supposed to remember the tiniest details about all these places with long Russian names and leaders with long Russian names?!

On the brightside, I got 91 on my French exam and 90 on my linguistics

i just recently dropped out of the "Failing Bio Club," as my friend put it. which really just means that i passed the embryology test. Organic Chem and Trig i will never understand no matter how someone tried to explain it to me. i failed every single test i ever took in those classes.

oh god...my marks jumped everywhere in my previous college. My best friend and two other good friends of mine did terrible on one Chemisty Exam. The first friend had like 40%...we all laughed at it for humor sake. Then the next friend goes to get his test..end ed up with 30%....the other(best friend)...%25 then me, 20%. We all were like how the hell did the other two get higher marks than my best friend and I....they are not that smart. Anyways...we laughed so hard during class about our marks...but at the end...i ended up with 78-80%. We still joke about it to this day. It's funny how, each one of was going up to get their exam back...and the marks kept getting lower and lower.

i hated that class. so u know...i didn't care about that exam.

Thanks for the advice

I spoke to my mum, and she said to wait and see what happens after the half-yearlys. I picked up a tutor after failing the last exam so I guess in the next test I'll see if it helps. I'm doing 12u so if worse comes to worse 2units of my maths won't have to count

On a better note, I got my Modern History back. 83%. I'm ok with that. It's only 10% of my final mark though...

I fail a lot and it sucks! the thing with me is that I can't do test and exams, I fail ALL of them! there were the certain few that i didnt but a good 98% of them I failed, thats why I count on my assignments and class work to pass me, sadly. So when Exam time comes around it's the worst ever! I got my report card and failed 3 classes out of 5! One class was Math and that was because the only marks my teacher took in for that class was test marks! I mean why!? So it turns out I wont be graduating next year like I'm suppose to.. I just wish I could study and do good on tests and exams, but it seems that studying for me does nothing, and I end up failing the test or exam anyway...*sigh*

I'm sure that's not true! If you really tried I'm sure you could pass all your tests ! The problem is in trying... I know because I have the same problem. I know that I'm not dumber than my colleagues, I just don't study much! What we need is motivation! The question is where do we get it?
