Hi everyone

Eventually we will have one of these for each album, but we thought we would start with the best, Fallen

So, each week we will discuss one of the songs and each week we will move onto the next one. So, firstly.....

Thanks for opening the thread Steve, you think maybe we should put the song we're discussing in the thread title?

Ill start the discussion I suppose

I love this song, I think its a great way to start the album that made Evanescence famous, very strong beginning to the song, love the vocals, and the lyrics to the beginning. I kept rewinding back to the beginning of the song halfway through it just to hear the way she started the song

So we have discarded the Origin years? Such a shame!
As for "Going Under" it always seemed to be a commercial effort to me; one that was written just to put out a sellable single. Nice and catchy and dark but not one of Ev's best by a long shot but a solid "hooky" opening number to the album...well placed as the opener to get it out of the way quickly!

We all love Going Under! Its an amazing song, probably in my top 10 of all time favorite songs! The lyrics are great, the video is fantastic and it starts the album off really well!

Yeah, I know! just pullin' your chain, Sheida. As for GU - it is one of my least favorite Ev songs which means I only "like it" a hell of a lot!

This is probobly my favourite part of the lyrics,

I like GU more than some others.

I think you may or may not know, Laz remembers I think haha, but I don't like Haunted.

Oh yeah Haunted is my least Ev song too, GU is definately better than that, I think the thing with Haunted is that its one of those songs that not everyone can relate to but GU is better in a sense that most people can actually relate to the experience

The first time I heard this song (Going Under), I fell in love with it instantly. I hadn't heard the entire album at the time, so I had nothing to compare it to really.

In retrospect, I still love the song, though I did realize pretty quickly that it was probably one of the most commercial songs on the album. But even as a more commercial effort, the song is still pretty damn awesome. And it's one of the reasons why I fell in love with Evanescence to begin with, so I gotta give the song props.

I personally think it's one of the better songs on the album.

Tell you something! I had been listening to the Origin stuff more than anything else of late and this thread got me back to Fallen and GU is a really great tune. i stand by my assertion that it is very commercial but very, very good!!
