Episode Discussion 6.05: Joy/Haley in "You've Dug Your Own Grave, Now Lie In It"

FINAL SHOWDOWN WITH NANNY CARRIE — Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Lindsey (guest star Michaela McManus) face a tenuous future, while Nathan (James Lafferty) receives an offer from a pro basketball team. Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) unwittingly puts Jamie's (Jackson Brundage) life in peril, while Brooke (Sophia Bush) struggles with giving up her company. Peyton (Hilarie Burton) discovers a dark secret about her new recording artist. Haley learns the truth about Dan (Paul Johansson), which leads to a final showdown with Carrie (guest star Torrey DeVitto).

I'm getting a little bored with wondering just how bad an episode of OTH would be without Joy.

I didn't find the parts without Joy to be too bad, it was just that for an episode like this there was definitely not enough Haley. I think the whole thing with Carrie/Haley/Jamie should have taken up a little more time.

Hell, I even thought some of the parts with Haley were bad. They made her look like an idiot and for what? Deb and Dan to swoop in and save the day and make some really not that funny comments about it?

At least Haley and Nathan were making an effort to communicate. That's about the only positive note I found in it all.

Ah so not that much to look forward to? The Sox game was rain delayed and that in turn delayed OTH so it's not going to be on until 10:30. I thought I would sneak in here first and see how the episode was.

I didn't think any of the Haley parts were bad In my opinion the only thing wrong with them was there not being enough of them.

Well I think I always feel that way, Steph. But that's good then. I am of course just excited to see what she's wearing and how she's looking. LOL. The shallow part of me always enjoys OTH for that reason.

Crazy Deb had the good sense to know something was fishy, Haley being a bit more sane should've had the sense to get a name, or at least the "nurse's" name, and google it or something. Things that are counterintuitive to what Haley would usually do = bad in my book. Haley/Jamie at the piano and the NHJ scene were the only ones that didn't irk me in some way.

Couldn't Dan have come up with a more creative way to kill Carrie? We've already seen him kill someone point blank. Next.

^ Well he's got that mastered, so why not continue that way. Is this supposed to redeem him for killing Keith?

I'm excited to hear there is a positive Haley/Jamie scene. I was hoping to get at least one that wasn't surrounded by crazy Carrie and corn fields.

I liked the H/J scene in the cornfields where she's just holding him

Ah yes, they did have a moment in the corn field that was really sweet. I was still too amused by how convenient that corn field was to remember.

I certainly hope Mark isn't expecting killing Carrie to redeem Dan. Murdering someone in self defense doesn't ameliorate murdering your brother. I wonder how that's going to go down with his parole officer? Possession of a firearm is almost always a violation of any parole. If you can get sent back to the slammer for a parking ticket when you're on parole killing someone would definitely get you sent right back even if it was self defense, but alas this is Tree Hill, the land where cold blooded killers are released in 5 years.

I like the HJ scene when she's talking to him about Dan dying.

But WTF, Deb would have never known that was Carries address from teh picture. She didn't know who she was at the park bench like 4 days ago. Ugh Mark.

ETA: And there was no NHJ/HJ after the Carrie crap? UGHHHH.

Can I have back the 50 minutes of my life where Joy wasn't on screen? No? Stupid, no good, anti-climatic storyline with contrived characterizations and the inability to capitalize on suspense.

Joy rocks my socks.
