I saw Mirella's post too. I had never thought of that before either until I read and commented on her post. I like that theory . I was curious to why they would introduce his grandmother, but that makes sense.

I am excited. I loved the Sopranos!

That theory definitely makes sense. I hope Granny's nice to Ben and isn't a female version of her lousy son.

And it's cool that they are getting Sopranos writers on board.

It could make a lot of sense if the grandmother had anything to do with it

Thanks Mirella for pointing that out!

It's just a feeling I have.
We don't know how old Chickie is and how long she is on the job, and with Dewey she had an older and experienced partner (an idiot, yes, but nevertheless with long experience on the job) , so I think she would not partnered with Ben. He is still a rookie and needs guidance. And he needs an older cop at his side, someone like John, who doesn't make life easy for him.
I wouldn't mind both together, but this would be to easy and smoothly.

I think she will be nice, we already have the stupid son, so no need for another stupid family member. Not enough time for that.

This is so disappointing! network tv sucks! JW should have taken Southland to cables from the start.

^ Yes, I wish he had. Or ABC. I saw something yesterday where JW said that ABC had been interested in him taking ER there after it finished on NBC. I wish he hadn't been so loyal to NBC, especially seeing as they have now proved they have absolutely no sense of loyalty back to him.

I knew something like this was going to happen as soon as Ben Silverman was replaced.

^ Yeah, it's always dangerous for existing shows when the "new broom" decides to clean house. Like with Liguori at Fox coming in for S3 of The OC and being less supportive then the previous exec. Although to his credit, after the cancellation announcement, he did allow them to complete production on S4 and broadcast all the remaining episodes.

But you would have thought Angela Bromstad might have fought a bit harder for the show, seeing as she was always talking about having a "passion" for the show, even as recently as August. I will never believe anything positive a TV executive says about a show I watch ever again.
