Did Marissa ever say Ryan was hot? I don't remember her ever saying that, but she had to have... right? ... all I remember is her hinting that he looks like Russell Crowe and saying, "You know some say he's good looking, but I don't see it." It always seemed on the show that they tried to paint this picture where Marissa was the beautiful princess and Ryan was the flawed, strong protector but not on her level of attractiveness. Am I wrong in my interpretation of that? I never understood why I got that vibe from the show, but to me it always seemed like Marissa never complimented his physical appearance. It's great that she was mostly attracted to Ryan because of who he was (definitely a good quality Marissa had), what he had been through (I took it that his "bad boy" beginnings turned her on), and how well he treated her and protected her, but I never got the feeling that she thought of him to be physically SUPER hot and on the same level as her, although she obviously enjoyed making out with him. To me it just seemed like she thought he was cute, but nothing more (physically that is). Taylor, Gabrielle, and Chloe on the other hand...

they were all over that! Haha.

i think taylor is kinda different from others . she's a person who used to be obsessed with a guy who gave her change for parking. she's attracted to ryan not for his appearance. he saved her. luckily she then realized he's hot and had great personality, unlike whoever she'd been obsessed with. and she wouldn't date any weird guy after ryan. he saved her from being desperately needy of affection and falling for weird guys. that's great. physical attraction is needed, but it's not good that there's nothing else but physical attraction.
chole is a exception. she's one of very few good things happened in the damn season 3. she even helped ryan repairing his relation with his mother. good girl. i like her.

TC – I don’t think she ever said that he was "hot" but like you said, she did mention Russell Crowe and said he was good looking, and obviously she was attracted to him and wanted to be with him. I don’t think she had to actually say the words "He's hot" for us to know that she thinks he's attractive

Taylor is another story; she was kind of a crazy (in a good way) character, so it was more believable of her to say stuff like "I want to use your[Ryan's] body as a jungle gym" I can't see Marissa saying that.

Michal Yeah, but I don't mean saying it to him... Marissa never even told Summer that Ryan is hot in the beginning before they dated. I thought that would be a little more realistic if she really felt that way. That's how girls talk in high school in the US REGARDLESS of how much we adore their personality!

...Or at least that's how me and all the girls talked in the high schools I went to, and I went to 3 high schools in 3 different US states... the mentality was the same in each. When we had a crush, we talked with our friends (acquaintances actually... I didn't trust many girls in high school) about how cute the guy is, and the personality stuff was on the down low until we actually got to know the guy better. On the OC, I swear Summer acted way more like most US teenagers than Marissa. I never met a girl in high schol quite like Marissa actually (in all aspects to be honest). I've met plenty of Summers. I've even met a couple of Taylors. Haha, Summer was like, "You got to GIDDY UP!"... or whatever she said...

With Lindsay, I get why she never said it since she had like no other female friends to talk to before she started dating Ryan and hardly any WHILE she was dating Ryan.

goodperson, I agree with you on Chloe. I actually wish he dated her to be honest.

EXACTLY! And every guy (and girl) she dated was hot. Haha, I never thought of Marissa as that believable of a high school character. She spoke like a troubled adult--not a teenager imo.

And the show gave me the same vibe with everyone else she dated too. It was as if Josh tried to paint her as the most beautiful girl ever. Maybe I got the wrong vibe from Josh, but even in interviews he seemed to make Riss seem like the beauty and every other person on the show came second to her beauty. I never understood his point I guess. I mean she's very beautiful, but so was everyone else on the show.

She did look better with Ryan though than the others imo. Ryan looks good with many different types of girls.

Ryan did look good with all of "his girl" but I think he looked the best with Taylor and Lindsay.

Oh, she looked great with Volchok! Delish! They were a match made in heaven physically. She looked awkward with DJ imo.

I agree that Ryan looked best with Taylor... they are two beautiful people inside and out and they compliment each other well. In season 2 he was dorky and cute and definitely looked great with Lindsay. I didn't mean that Ryan looked best with Marissa. I said Marissa looked best with Ryan. I don't think Ryan looked best with Marissa.

Alex... well I think Alex was one of the hottest girls on the show, but I have to be honest... I'm not a big fan of tv Lesbian relationships. I joke about it sometimes on other forums because I know how hot guys think it is when two girls make out, but I never actually find it hot myself... so I wasn't the biggest fan of their relationship even though I love Alex. In other words, when I've said in the past that Alex is so gorgeous that she almost turned me bi (I've joked about that before), I was 100% kidding. Two girls kissing actually turns me off.

TC we were the same in high school! we talked about good looking guys a lot!
i'm not a fan of lesbian relationship either, but alex was interesting. i want more alex VS ryan scenes.

not all ryan's relationships entertained me.

I liked Oliver because he made Ryan brood more... Ryan was super angsty in those episodes.
