You can spend time with your patients if you own your own practice. Every doctor I've ever shadowed owned their own practice and were very compassionate, good people who inspired me. They spend AT LEAST 30 minutes with each patient and get to know them and form bonds with them.

Sure, you'll get paid less doing that because you can't see as many patients in one day, but I think it's better to treat a number of patients to the maximum capacity (give them the best possible treatment physically, mentally, and spiritually) than to treat 100 patients in a lackluster fashion due to limited time. Besides, I don't care about the money. The later is how my grandma got killed due to malpractice. The ER doctor seeing her said he was "tired" and he didn't check her medical records or speak to her or her family (us) sufficiently. Instead, he ran a few tests and misdiagnosed her... treated her for the wrong thing, and the treatment he gave her killed her (it was her official cause of death).

I don't necessarily blame the physicians who can only spend limited time with each patient in the hospital setting. I blame the SYSTEM. It's screwed up how it works, ESPECIALLY in America.

Hey guys, Sorry I haven't been posting as much! FF wasn't working for me.
Today I got in a really bad car accident and I am so thankful to say I am alive considering how much Worse it could have ended up.

But my whole body really aches and I feel sick to my stomache! And my leg, ribs and back ache, Also my head. And I am afraid to close my eyes to go to sleep because all I keep thinking about was getting jolted so badly by that other car! And how I had No time to even react. Everything just happened way to fast . . . .

Everyone keeps saying had that other car hit us two inches back, We both would have been dead and that scares me!.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you going to be alright? Did you go to the hospital? What did they say? Did you sustain any bad injuries?

How did the accident occur? Who was the other driver? Why/how did they hit your car?

I'm so sorry hun! Is your car totaled too?

Insomnia's a bitch... I have a crappy headache right now, although probably no where close to what you're going through right now. I'm praying for you to feel better soon!

Yeah, I am going to be fine!

I just feel really sick to my stomache and my whole body aches, Tomorrow It will be even worse! And I am totally not ready to embrace that. Major Ughx a thousand. And No, I didn't but they said if anything gets worse with my ribs and everything in general, I should go and because I had sharp pains in the back of my head, To make sure it's nothing bad either! So we have to keep a close watch on that. And what did they say?! Like the Medical people!? Just to take things easy! And yeah basically what I just said

Thankfully I didn't sustain any bad injuries, I just got jarred up really badly!.
And the accident occured when me and my friend kala were going to go pick up my other friend shelby! We were leaving my house right and the traffic was really heavy and backed up. So, we waited for a clearing and this driver waved my friend to go! So she does right and like the road seems as clear as can be! Then out of nowhere this car comes! And it was the most unexpected thing EVER! It was such a freak accident. And she was making a left turn, and the really bad traffic was heading straight the other direction! Then BAM. I was the passenger, My friend Kala was the driver! But her car and his car is completely totaled. The whole front side is near the engine! And this was just no little fender bender! It was a really bad collision! That's why they said had the guy hit us a couple inches back, We would of have died.

And thank you so much hun!

The weeks to follow are going to be really hard, I am so afraid to get in a car now!.
Because that street we were at to turn is a really busy place to be! And edmonton traffic can be pretty bad, So any time someone will turn Who I'm with in a car in general, that will replay through my head.

Yeah, unfortunately even in America.

My grandma's death was officially as a result of malpractice. There are tons of cases each year. However, in America litigation is extremely prevalent so there are also many BOGUS malpractice law suits against excellent doctors. All of this only increases healthcare costs further, making it more difficult for money to be available to subsidize programs for the underprivileged and uninsured. The system really is to blame. There are bad physicians in every country, but I think that the majority of physicians are good and mean well. Limitations due to the way the healthcare system in the US is set up make it difficult for physicians to practice the way they think is best and that compromises the quality of care that the patients receive unfortunately. In the US I don't think monopsonistic health care (what many know as "universal healthcare") would work either though because of the complexity of the current system. Moreover, there is a lot of red tape unfortunately. People in power are greedy at the expense of innocent citizens.

I'm glad nothing was serious, but that's still horrible!

Awwww... your poor friend... so she got banged up AND she lost her car? Does she have insurance to cover it? That sucks when freak accidents occur. I remember when I was about 7 and we got hit by a drunk driver. It was really scary... my dad almost got killed. I'll pray that your weeks aren't so bad and that you get healthy physically and mentally soon so that you can get past this experience and move on. I know what it's like to be scared to get into a car after that. Anyways, yeah... I've dealt with NYC traffic and Atlanta traffic (ATL has the most drunk driving accidents in the US I think) so I know what you mean. It's a shame Edmonton traffic is so bad. I hate bad traffic. Well I'm here if you ever need to talk about it more or talk about ANYTHING that's bothering you for that matter.

I'm glad everyone is all right, that's the most important thing. The insurance will pay for the damaged cars, but you can't put a price on your health.
