| Those bats are cute! And thanks so much Michal! I hope so too! So this is kind of funny so I thought I'd share. My ex-boyfriend (YES, the douche who shattered my heart who USED to be my best friend once upon a time LONG before we ever dated) e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago (I hadn't heard from him in a WHILE) saying that he wants to be friends again. Like a week and a half later, I responded (I purposely made him wait, lol). He seemed sincere so I decided that I wouldn't mind being DISTANT friends with him since I have absolutely no feelings for him anymore, our relationship was long in the past, and I've forgiven him. He responded to me tonight (a lot quicker response than I expected)... in my e-mail to him I had been very brief (and not too personal)... AND I sent him the recent Ryan Atwood video I made, lol (No, he does NOT watch the OC, but he DID used to watch it with me once upon a time when we dated, and he knows how much I love Ben McKenzie/Ryan Atwood). ANYWAYS, he says he loved the video and made some observations about it... so I got a kick out of that. I didn't even think he'd care to watch it to be honest! I'm not minding this "new" friendship. We can e-mail each other every once in a blue moon to see how each of us is doing and there are no strings attached. Plus he lives in Missouri where he's in medical school so I don't have to see him. It's great! Anyways, I thought I'd share. ![]() __________________ I Ben!!!!!!! ![]() | |||

| OMG, today was such a good day! For the first time EVER I understand the Renin/Angiotensin mechanism thoroughly and how it leads to the increase of blood pressure! If anyone is interested in knowing, just PM me and I'll explain! It's cool stuff how the human body works! I am SO excited! I never understood it so well before. And even more, I understand more thoroughly the importance of capacitors and how several types of cells in the human body work similarly to chemical batteries (the neuron behaves just like a battery with alternating current). I had studied electrostatics and circuits in physics and I had studied the nervous system, but not once had I ever made those connections that explain how electro-physics REALLY DOES apply very much to the human body. I always wondered why physics was so important to know in order to go to medical school, and for the first time EVER I am finally starting to understand and now I am LOVING physics! I even better understand the mechanisms involved in the release of the salt, sugar, and sex hormones (mineralcorticoids, glucocordicoids, and androgens) from the adrenal cortex and how androgen release from the adrenal cortex (reticulares) differs from the release of androgens (like testosterone or estrogen) from the gonads (testes or ovaries). Maybe I'll finally do very well on the MCAT this time around because of understanding mechanisms in a much more profound level than before. I hope so! Please pray for me! I love ALL of you girls and thanks so much for your support! If anyone on here is interested in understanding ANY of the aforementioned biological mechanisms, I'd be more than happy to try to explain and break it down so that it can be clearly understood by you regardless of your science background. The human body is just so cool to me and I'm not sure who else on here feels that way (I'm pretty sure the wonderful nurse, Hanna does AND that she already knows ALL of this stuff), but I it and imo all of these mechanisms clearly demonstrate the complexity of God's design.__________________ I Ben!!!!!!! ![]() Last edited by tc_mahfood : 11-03-2009 at 08:51 PM. | |||

I understood the material of the exam before... just not as extensively as I am beginning to now. Right now I'm studying things that are beyond the level of the general college science courses, and I'm drawing connections between multiple subjects. That in turn I feel will greatly increase my ability to adapt to the types of questions the MCAT asks (very tricky questions that really make you step outside of the box and apply numerous concepts in new situations).__________________ I Ben!!!!!!! ![]()

I admit that I was typing VERY fast and after I re-read what I sent you, I realized that I made quite a few typos (I guess I should have proof read it first). I know you are working on your English so I want to make sure you know what the correct prepositions are. In my message, I wrote "do to" once instead of "due to." "Due to" is correct. Also, I accidentally spelled Angiotensin as "Antiotensin" a couple of times. It is Angiotensin. That's the correct spelling so you don't get confused. I also think I spelled juxtaglomerular apparatus as "justaglomerlar apparatus" once by mistake. The correct spelling is juxtaglomerular apparatus ![]() Lastly, I accidentally typed "zona glomerula" when I meant to type zona glomerulosa. It is the section of the adrenal cortex responsible for releasing aldosterone, which is the most important mineralcorticoid in the body and directly responsible for increasing the body's blood pressure at the level of the kidneys. Other than that, I hope my explanation and the diagrams I sent you (of the kidneys and of the juxtaglomerular apparatus) made sense and that I was able to effectively teach you this mechanism. ![]() __________________ I Ben!!!!!!! ![]() Last edited by tc_mahfood : 11-04-2009 at 02:20 AM.

| TCi left for preparing and having supper afternoon. now i've finished the 'blood pressure' story you posted (on OT thread and PM). it's really helpful for me. your explanation is pretty clear! i just read some medical book (for normal readers, not for specialized student) and what you said is just what i need. thank you hun! ![]() plus wish you good luck on study! | |||

Yeah, when I teach something I like to break it down into its simplest form so that anybody can understand it so I'm glad I was able to accomplish that with you. So many jerks try to make themselves look "smart" and use fancy words and make the concepts more complicated than they are. Medical science is very logical so if summarized clearly, imo most people are intelligent enough to grasp the main points. It was good practice for me to break down concepts like that for you so I should be thanking YOU. When I'm a doctor, I want to be able to explain to my patients their condition in a way that makes perfect sense. I don't like it when some doctors act like they're smarter than everyone. I get that it's hell to get through medical school and by the end of it, you do learn more than almost any other profession does in graduate school but imo that's not enough of a reason to rub it in people's faces. I believe strongly in the patient/doctor relationship (in the US, MANY doctors only spend 5 minutes with the patient and don't help them understand ANYTHING). I want to spend at least 45 minutes to an hour with each patient and help them feel comfortable, better able to cope and accept their condition and to truly understand what's going on inside of them... and hopefully I can cheer them up and help them smile too. I believe that every physician has the ability to not only treat the disease, but also to improve each patient's quality of life spiritually and mentally. I want to show my patients that I am on the same level as them even though I have the title and the white coat. I want to let them know that I'm there for them beyond just their medical appointments if they need anything. It's a bit more of a radical approach and once I'm a doctor, the US medical community will probably be mad at me for that, but I want to help people through more than just merely preventing death and treating a disease. ![]() __________________ I Ben!!!!!!! ![]()

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wow that is awesome that you understand it now TC ![]() And I think you knows more about this then I do ![]() You will become a great doctor someday thats for sure TC! The human body is amazing and very complicated. And when it comes to doctors in Sweden they are the same as US or any other country. They spend 5 minutes. But they don´t have the time as they are on a clock too. If you have say about 10 patient per day you don´t have time for 45-60 minutes with a patient. You want to have it but there is no time and that is bad. And the worse is that when a doctor is talking over your head. This happens alot when I´m with a patient they talk to me and I say its better to talk to the person you are treating and not me. I totally understand if the "patient" has a hearing problem or any other communicate (?) problem. Oh well today I took photos to re-new my license ![]() Last edited by swedish_girl80 : 11-04-2009 at 11:00 AM. | |||
