Ben : I was so excited when I got the offer. Bruno Heller wrote Jim Gordon for me, I'm so honored. I tried not to say "yes" immediately, it was pretty hard! lol

The expectation for the show was so big that we all felt pressure, which helped the cast get united.
The camaraderie is tricky, we can't create it on purpose. It has to be coming out naturally and we'd nurse and develop it. Without mutual respect and cooperation, we couldn't get it. I'm trying to make all the cast feel comfortable so that they won't hesitate to speak out their thoughts and ideas.

Q : This show focuses on Gordon, why?

Ben : Young Bruce Wayne is going to become Batman, because he met Gordon. This show is about their friendship and bond.

Q : About Jim Gordon

Ben : I'm playing Gordon who is 20-30 years younger, the setting is different from the Dark Knight trilogy. I didn't study the Gordon Gary Oldman portrayed, although he is terrific and my hero as an actor. I don't want to copy the character the other actors have created, I want to create my own Jim Gordon.

What I like about Gordon is he's always who he is. He won't compromise. With Barbara, he was trying to be honest all the time. lol

Q : About Donal Logue

Ben : He's very energetic and has a big heart, he's taking care of the other cast all the time, he's just wonderful. I want to be his good partner on and off the set.

Daisuke dubbed Ben's Ryan charactr at the age of 26, actually around the same age as Ben when Ben starred in The O.C..
Daisuke thought he wanted to grow with this actor and Ben has been special for him since then.
This is the first time he actually met him but he felt as if he'd met his old friend.

Ben : I listened to your dub, you have a deep nice voice. Thanks to your sexy voice, Jim Gordon looks hotter. I liked it.

Daisuke : As long as your(Ben's) show goes on, I have a job. Hopefully Gotham has many seasons.
Ben : Exactly!

Daisuke : When I voiced Ben, It was the first time for me to dub the lead actor and I felt huge pressure. Finding Ben was around the same age as me, I guessed Ben also started his career and I thought I could grow with him together through the screen.

Daisuke : I got energy from the young cast on the OC when I voiced Ben's Ryan character. 10 years have passed, I've found much bigger presence in Ben's Jim Gordon, I can feel how much Ben devotes to this role. I don't try to create my character, I just get what the original actor conveys and I reflect it in my voice.

I understand Ben feels responsible for playing Gordon, he takes this job very seriously, I can see it in his acting and voice. Just listening to Ben, I can voice over him without thinking this and that, I can do it very naturally.

Having said so, It's fun to find the same smile in Gotham (in a scene with Selina Kyle) as he had in the OC.

Daisuke : You voiced Bruce Wayne?! Wow!
We, voice actors, have only means to perform, our voice. We trust the crew, especially in making animations, they add some more and upgrade the works.

IF I have a chance to play in the US , shows/movies or the animation films that are released in the US where I voice, I do hope you(Ben) will voice over my character.

Daisuke : I felt comfortable talking with you, as if talking with my brother in the US. I'm also a fan of Kyoto.
Hopefully I can do your voice over in your future projects.
I'm happy to have a chance to see you today, glad I'm doing this job.

Thanks for this vinie. I have to say that even with the sightings that have been reported lately, it does not mean he is involved. I am not sure if the writer is insinuating about the two of them in real life, or just the characters relationship on Gotham. Time will tell.. All the same, this is sad news, the breakdown of any marriage, for whatever reason is sad.

And in slightly OT news - I am worried that this board will be shut down because of a lack of a second moderator ( It's not as if we don't post any news. In fact, I think this is one of the few places that regularly updates with new Ben news. This is one of the oldest Ben boards (since 2004 I believe) and there are things that get posted here that don't get posted anywhere else.
If anyone is interested, I am willing to post more stuff on Ben, even things that most fans don't normally know ( don't worry; it won't be anything scandalous), just so that more people will visit this board. Hopefully someone will step up the plate and apply to be a second mod.
