Sorry for DP, but I felt this deserved its own separate post. News of Southland's cancellation made the cut for E!'s Kristin's (she reviews TV) Q&A on the website. The contact information she posted probably isn't the best to use, since it's for an NBC exec and the focus for the "Save Southland" campaign has moved on from NBC...But it's interesting to read regardless. Here it is:

Nicole in Washington, D.C.: How can we get Southland back? I'm from L.A., and it reminds me of home, and it was sooo good! NBC is making a big mistake. I would gladly take that over Mercy.
Mercy me, I agree. The decision to pull the plug was a huge shock to the cast and crew, as you already know if you've been following their statements and tweets. They were still filming in L.A. the day the news came down, so that's gonna leave a mark. You can tell NBC you want the show back by writing to:
Angela Bromstad
100 Universal City Plaza
Building 1320E, 4th Floor
Universal City, CA, 91608.

Oh, and FYI, the castmember pic they used was the official one of Ben.

Southland Actress Stunned by Sudden Cancellation:

Quote:
http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/kecks-exclu...ation-2790.html

TV Guide Magazine was finishing up a photo shoot and interview with Regina King to promote Southland's new season, when she received word from her publicist that NBC had cancelled her critically acclaimed show just days before its second season was to have premiered on October 23.

After guiding a tour of her childhood haunts in L.A.'s real Southland, King sat down over lunch and voiced her deep concerns over NBC's failure to promote the show. Then, just after she said goodbye to go pick up her 11-year-old son from school, the actress' Prius broke down. While waiting in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant for AAA, she got the call about NBC's shocking decision.

King was extremely proud of the work she and her Southland co-stars have done on six unaired episodes. "The first episode is so freakin' good!," she said about the second season premiere, which was to have featured a guest spot from former San Diego Chargers/Oakland Raiders football star Sam Scarber as a menacing character. "I was so drawn into it, like I forgot I was watching a show I was on. It's that good."

Spoiler:
King said her character, Det. Lydia Adams, would get a new partner named Ray Suarez, played by film actor Clifton Collins Jr. ("Traffic"), and hinted that Lydia was headed for a steamy romance with another cop—perhaps Ben McKenzie's Officer Ben Sherman. "You're not going to expect who Lydia ends up with," teased King. "The writers are finding moments where the line between a detective and a police officer cross." Too bad viewers may never get to see what develops.

'Southland' fans a-Twitter

New ABC hit series 'FlashForward' approved for full season after key ratings win over 'Survivor'

A petition, or "Twitition" has begun at Twitter to gather support for "Southland," the gritty drama about Los Angeles cops that NBC officials canceled late last week.
The show was scheduled to return to launch Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. However, NBC officials notified producer Warner Bros. the show wasn't going to go on.
The cancellation caught fans as well as the the cast and crew by surprise and has led series star Michael Cudlitz to use his Twitter posts to rally support for the show.

"Want 2 take a moment and thank all 4 Ur support," Cudlitz wrote. "Am sure all involved R thankful. I'm just the putz that opened his mouth. Southland style." Cudlitz urged fans to call NBC and to create a buzz by commenting on every story, blog post and interview about the show. But, he wrote, fans needed to be civil to be taken seriously. "Remember," he added. "Keep it all positive, and positive things will happen. Southland style."

Event with Ben, eh? Why is "the hermit" (I say that with great affection, HA HA!) suddenly making all of these public appearances??? It's a mystery for sure!

Awww... that bunny wiggle is soooooooo cute! Let's not get too excited though... hulu.com may just be saying that because the show was supposed to air on the 23rd and would then be available... it's possible that they just haven't changed/updated that. I hope that they really will have it available on hulu on the 24th though! That would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well he's not really making public appearances... the media is just tracking this poor boy down. Even this event isn't really a huge celebrity type event... it's actually a charity event if I'm understanding it correctly, haha. I'm glad he's venturing outside though... that means more candids for us!!!!!

No problem babe! I just hope that it's REALLY good news and not just the results of an outdated website.

From TV-Guide Matt Roush:

TV Guide Magazine | Ask Matt | Ask Matt: NCIS' Twisted History

Question: Damn NBC and Leno!!! I really enjoyed Southland and have been eagerly awaiting its return. Any news on how likely it is Southland will be picked up by a cable network?—Liz

Matt Roush: With six episodes already in the can, I’d bet they’ll be seen somewhere. If not on NBC, then on a network that isn’t afraid to put adult content on the air (or that has 10/9c time periods available), which is why cable seems such a likely alternative. It’s a bit early for a deal this complicated to be worked out just yet, but John Wells seems determined to find a home for it. TNT seems the most likely option to many, given that Southland is a Warner Bros production and this would keep it in the corporate family, plus it fits the “We Know Drama” brand. And to be honest, the numbers for Southland this spring were so problematic that the only way it’s likely to look like a hit would be for it to air on a cable network. NBC’s renewal of this show was in some ways as puzzling and surprising as Fox’s pickup of Dollhouse, so keep that in mind and give Fox credit for at least giving that strange little fantasy a home for as long as it lasts.

They probably didn’t update the site yet.
