Some shows do ok on Fridays especially in the winter time when its cold and people prefer to stay in, but since the show is airing in the fall, I don’t see it happening. Sure, they have a better lead in and less competition, but the ratings won't be good imo. *sigh*

I know that traditionally Fridays aren't considered good nights on US TV, but I can see the reasoning behind this because of how the show's performed on a crime-repeat Saturday as compared to a Thursday, plus with the economic situation as it is right now, more people may be inclined to stay in on Friday/Saturday nights due to financial constraints. I think the positive thing is that it's on the schedule for both fall and midseason, so they'll have to extend the 13 episode order to meet that schedule. And if Leno doesn't do that well, then there is the chance of it being moved into a better slot. And there will be less pressure on it for high ratings, so hopefully it can gradually build a solid core audience and then move on to a different night for S3.

I can see the reasoning behind this too, but I don’t like it. I want to see Ben in prime time and not in some forgotten show on Friday night. I kind of hoping they'll be cancelled now…. You do have a point about the economic situation, but I still think the ratings won't be good.

From what I've heard even if Leno won't do well, they'll keep him because it cost them next to nothing to make the show; I heard that even 3-4 million viewers in ratings will be ok with them.

At least the lead-in for Southland is one of NBC's best-performing scripted dramas. So that will help.

I hope it comes back in September/early October and not November.

Well maybe Ben will work his butt off promoting the show (an interview every day on different networks,

... great for us fans!) and they'll make really hot billboards and posters of Ben, which will at least inspire all the females aged 18-50 to stay home on Friday nights want watch it. Then their boyfriends will want to watch too, so they'll tune in, and instead of clubbing, Friday nights will become Southland/Ben time.

Hey, maybe all of us Ben fans can create a petition to either have the show on a Wednesday or Thursday night or to go super overboard promoting it. Maybe we can write a letter to whomever is in charge. You never know... NEVER underestimate the power that we hold as fans!!!!

You know, the first thought that came to my mind when I read the news about the timeslot was..."That sucks, because I always go out on Friday and Saturday nights!" ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is NBC thinking??? They are going to kill one of their most successful shows in recent years! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which days/time slots are beneficial for new shows -- No wonder the network is tanking!

I love the show and so hope the ratings pick up but I'm also really hoping this role will lead to some movies for Ben. Hey, Stephen Speilberg watches the show maybe he'll find a part for our Ben in a movie sometime.

Guys, it's not that bad. With the digital conversion next month ... the ratings system will include DVR and online viewings to calculate the correct amount of viewers. Thus, Southland could still be a hit... along with Ugly Betty, and Dollhouse... all exiled to Friday @ 9, for some reason.
