I stole this idea from the Brendan Fehr board. Well when the board used to still exist I remember this thread being on it and I remember how much fun it was. So maybe we can have some fun and have the board being more active at the same time

The Basics:

Each week we have one debate question. Members post saying whether or not they are for or against the motion. Now you can't just post saying 'for' or 'against'. You must back up your point.
After a week Kim or I shall tally the votes and we shall say which side has won the debate.
I'll edit in the different debate topics and the results into the first post so that we can keep track of how we've been voting on the different topics.
If you would like to suggest a debate topic then just PM me or Kim and we'll set it up for the following week. The debate can be related to Ben in any way, character or real life stuff, like say his hair or something. Just remember to always follow FF rules.
A new debate shall begin every monday.

Outcome: 0 For - 9 Against. Against win the motion.

I am against it.
Ryan doesn't need the drama that Marissa provides. He doesn't need what he left behind in Chino. He already dealt with the drinking with his mother, he doesn't need it from his girlfriend too. He came to Newport to leave it behind.

Marissa is too self centred and her alcohol abuse is not good for Ryan to be around - it's going to remind him too much of his mother.

Ryan deserves so much better than Marissa. Marissa constantly drug him down. He lost trust with her and Marissa totally f ucked him over with Oliver. They shall not be back together.

Against.

The entire reason that Ryan moved to Newport was so that he could have a better life. One where he didn't have to worry about supporting his mother, brother, himself and taking care of everyone. Sandy and Kirsten took him in so that he could have the opportunity to lead a normal life.

90% of his relationship with Marissa did not let him do that. He was stressing about Oliver, worrying about her alcohol addiction, suicide attempts, family problems. It's perfectly fine for Ryan to support her emotionally, because that's what relationships are, but she never gave anything back in return.

Marissa caused Ryan nothing but heartache and you can't have a successful relationship if your always suffering, which I believe for the most part Ryan was.

Add another against. Totally don't believe he should be with her for the same reasons yall believe. I just think Ryan deserves better and i'd love to see him happy and smiling. I just think Marissa needs to get her life straightened out before she brings Ryan down anymore.

Yes I'm against as well. Marissa should work on her personality first. Maybe in a few seasons, they'll be right for each other, but definitely not right away. I'd like to see Ryan focuss on other things than love for awhile.

I must've skipped over this thread.

I think he should do musicals. Like singing and dancing in an Oklahoma/Guys and Dolls type play. He might be a little old for it though if were talking about Ben but if Ryan....Hell yes. He and Seth can participate together. I can picture it now.
