Caaaaake...like a bat signal for me

Leanne, the go crazy on selling holiday decorations and especially candy WAY too early. Not a north-American thing at all
Halloween is not a traditional holiday here... same with Valentine's Day. It is taking over but it doesn't feel organic if you know what I mean. The time to go crazy dressing up is carnival in many parts of Germany
But I expect them to start with the Christmas candy next month

Not sure about the present question. It's not really the material things I crave... more like extra time to do fun things or relax

And sorry for meing MIA. I had people staying at my place for the last few days and the weather was crazy good so we spent most of our time outside by the lake

Sounds like you had a fun time, Kia! Glad to see you again though! how lovely to live close to a lake.

It's a heat wave gain here and sadly I can't use my pool. I'm gonna have to set it up next summer starting in June.. and try not to get bitten by my cat or need stitches! Next year, I might go to the Harry Potter park at Universal in Florida with my family, plane and tickets paid for. Um, sweet deal. I'll go

I start work next Tuesday! Time to get to know new students and new co-workers and no more sleeping in! But I hope I have fun, having people to work with!

Excuse my ignorance, but what's a Harry Potter park?

Thanks, guys

And I am keeping my fingers crossed, Leanne. We only want nice students and lovely colleagues so that you can slip nicely into the role of cool female Giles and watch the Hellmouth (was that what it was called?) for us to keep us safe.

for the HP park.Didn't know there was one.
I'm currently re-reading Order of the Phoenix.

I'll try my best to be the best Giles possible in my libraries, I'll build up our supernatural book collection... one school the kids already love those, I have 3 other schools to work on still

Here is the site of Harry Potter World park. It is a thing! I guess in Germany, you don't get all the Disney amusement park stuff!

Order the Phoenix is so frustrating to read cause of that woman

True, but I am really enjoying reading it because there are so many details I had forgotten about... Also a big fan of Dumbledore's Army

And we do have amusement parks but they are a lot less theme-based than in the US/Canada I guess. The rides are fun, no need for any princesses to show up

Now that I think of it, why do our parks over here have no themes?

Is it because we cannot agree on a theme? Do we fight too much?

Isn't there a famous German fairy tale you can make a theme park out of?

I think the Simpsons referenced a potential theme park idea for the Germans... how about a park called "The Land of Chocolate?"

I would travel to Germany if you did have a "Land of Chocolate" to visit

That's cool!

The only theme park I've been to is Busch Gardens, which, along with the rides, had a lot of animals to see.

I've never been to any of the Disney themed parks which is weird cause I was the Disney nut in my family and I think all of my family at this point have all been to either one except me even my parents, aunts and uncles and their friends stopped by the Harry Potter Wizarding world together and they never even read the books or watched all the movies, so they didn't really know what they were all experiencing.

The only amusement park that's permanent close by to me is the Playland park in Vancouver.

I guess all my travel is more visiting cities in Europe rather than any amusement parks with rides!

I used to LOVE amusement part rides. I'd ride the same ones over and over though. I remember my first ride on a roller coaster, was a hanging down one, and my boyfriend at the time screamed more than me. I laughed the whole ride at that.

Funny that your family went there, and you didn't. But, hopefully you'll get to go soon!
