Woo starting on a new thread ! Hehe thanks for starting Kia  I'm gonna have to catch up on things :gone:

What has everyone been up to? I was on a year long Access course to try and get into uni but just missed my grades (hence my absence). I need 4 B's for entry but achieved ABBC :pout: it was hard going, I don't know how all you uni folk deal with essays, good grief, never been so stressed!!! It's been over a decade since I was last in education, such a shock to the system

Hope everyone is doing well :D

Michelle  Welcome back hon

kiamay 10-20-2013 12:25 PM

Well, you have an average of B... they should have let you pass :irked:
And anything having to do with education can be both thrilling (all the things that you can find out more about) and extremely exhausting :thud:
I sometimes miss uni though.
Getting that book at the beginning of the semester and deciding which classes to take... it was a bit like being in a big candy shop... and I always picked more than I could stomach
So what is happening now? Are you retaking the exams?

im in college michelle doing a masters and we get essays every two weeks, so i know exactly what you mean, they can be so stressfull :(
I agree with you kia an average of a B will get you through :)

Hey everyone. After my long absence I have returned. Laptop problems took a lot longer to sort out that I hoped and even when I eventually got it back during last week been laid out with cold/flu

Got a lot of catching up to do around the web but should hopefully be with you a lot more

JayDeeMac 10-22-2013 12:49 PM

Oh yeah and welcome back Michelle! :back_hug: I've missed you. Had come into my mind quite a few times to try and contact you to see what was up

kiamay 10-23-2013 11:03 AM

Hey John!
Glad your laptop stuff is sorted out. And the flu? I hate the flu. Glad you're back and healthy again :)

JayDeeMac 10-24-2013 04:54 PM

Thanks Kia. And yeah flu sucks big time. Still quite tired and rundown but certainly over the worst of it

kiamay 10-25-2013 02:00 PM

I have an Infection that only affects the vocal chords. I was told not to speak for the next few days which is difficult enough without me having a drama workshop this weekend
I hope you're resting enough, John

JayDeeMac 10-25-2013 05:12 PM

Aww Kia. Hope it clears up ok for you

kiamay 10-27-2013 08:24 AM

Thanks, dear

Mimimich 10-28-2013 02:11 PM

Oh no, Kia, hope you feel better  and hiiiiiii John! :back_hug: I got your Christmas card, so sorry I didn't send one back!! I'll do better this year  Hope your also feeling better :)

The uni I was applying to made their entry requirements pretty hard, most school leavers need all A's, but as we were older and our course a different way of working from high school they were more lenient with us so our conditions were lower. My application went into clearing which meant I could have found another course but to be honest I didn't know what I wanted to do, I'd only wanted to get into uni to leave my job so hadn't given much thought to the future apart from get out of my rut.

Buuuut... I don't know if anyone has heard of the thing where you can claim back insurance you took on a loan if you didn't need it? (may actually only be a UK thing) I applied for that since I've been incredibly stupid with money for the past decade and got myself stuck with so many needless bills, and actually managed to claim back enough to pay off everything I own which I was NOT expecting, so now for the first time in my adult life I have OPTIONS!! Right now I'm considering saving up to move out and rent, or buy, or travel, or learn to drive, or go abroad for an extended period of time...

I've never been able to even go away on holiday, so I'm considering a wee weekend away with a book somewhere. Rock and roll! I've signed myself up for a portfolio building class to try and get into an art school, so we'll see. If I don't get in it's not the end of the world anymore :)
