I'm yet to have a favorite because i'm going to watch again once it comes to blu ray so I can marathon through and see how it tags up with the original series and movies.

I plan to do the same thing and hope posters come and post about it as well Just another take on the series, with no commercial break or weekly break. Depending on how everyone re-watches

Hi everyone,

this is just about one episode but I hope that’s nevertheless the right place for it.
In Germany we watched “Babylon” yesterday and well, I thought I was prepared for it. But I wasn’t I read spoilers before on the internet and in the forum und most of the posts, reviews etc. I read about were quite negative. To cut a long story short, many people didn’t like it and titled it as the weakest episode of the season. So, in the moment I turned on the TV I expected nothing. And what I got instead was a huge surprise. Low expectations are sometimes much better than great ones…because I really really liked that episode! I wasn’t better than “Home Again”, which is IMO one of the best episodes of the entire series but for me it’s on one level with the “Weremonster”. The only fault of the episode is, that there was so much content in such less time. But the more you watch it, the more you find out.
“Babylon”…not only a title, or a hotel name, but so much more…Babylon as a town that is said not to be able to conquer. But when it falls, the end is near (introduction of “My Struggle 2”). A town full of people of different nations and heritage, people who don’t know each other, living together at a very limited space, not speaking a common language. We all are Babylon, because Babylon is the earth. Now it’s our turn to find a common language again, as Scully said, a language that can balance out love and hate.

I really like the sense behind the story and the huge amount of symbolism. It was so intelligent and philosophical. I read a great review on a blog afterwards that expressed exactly the way I felt about it. It’s a lot to read but it’s really good and going into details. I especially like the way he/ she explains how Mulder and Scully fit in the big picture. About why one has chosen Miller and the other one Einstein. It also makes it more clear to me why they had introduced the younger agents in this episode and why they’re so similar to Mulder and Scully. They needed a “mirror”.
Concerning these two agents I must say, that I kind of liked Miller. Einstein was a bit too demanding, she gets on my nerves a bit Scully always had more respect although she didn’t share Mulders believes. That defines a strong character.

I’ll search for the blog article and post it in here. I’m curious about your opinions

Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster was my favourite episode for season 10, I was already looking forward to that one because Darin Morgan wrote some of my favourite episodes in the classic series, and I was really happy with how it turned out. Not only was it really funny, but it had some deeper points to make too with the central joke of the monster turning into a human actually bringing up some good points with what he hated and didn't understand about what it meant to be human. I really enjoyed all of the nostalgic touches in that episode as well And Scully's dognapping was hilarious

ETA To be honest I'm probably going to hold off on buying the Blu-Ray for a bit, I have it on my wish list at amazon.co.uk, but I think that it's really overpriced for just 6 episodes I hope that the season being so short means that we at least get commentaries and lots of extras for every episode, but we'll see

£17.99. That's usually more what you pay for a half season of 12/13 episodes though, so I'm going to wait until the price drops to around £10/£11, I think that's fairer for a mini series

well as my tread about the 10th season disater was closed i have to react in this thread.

its not the direction the x files are taking that bothers me,not at all,it is the quality

it just looks so plasic, and clean and smooth,,,,the original x files were deep, gritty and gore sometimes and every once in a while a good joke, but this...is like a parody

watching the series i felt like they were laughing at me and saying we made this for you and we find it funny

my last tv shows i have watched were house of cards, true detective, american crime, further back breaking bad,and even further the BRILLIANT series called THE WIRE

now in my mind the X files was back thenn what the Wire is now,and it was that quality i expected, when we got this insult to serious quality tv watchers...

i am devastated by this tenth season

dvd or blu ray? Because the blu ray here in the states is at 29.99 now but will probably drop around 20 bucks when it's released.

That's about the translation of what it is here. Always remember these things are cheaper the week they come out. I have current movies preordered for 25 dollars and are now 19.99 because they come out in a few days. I'll get the automatic price adjustment from amazon so i'm not worried, but they almost always get cheaper.

Thanks for this thread.

BEST - Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster: very funny, loved the idea of the story, awesome Mulder & Scully scenes (in the woods, running after the "monster", autopsy, etc.), many Easter eggs, Mulder finally seeing his monster... what's not to love?
WORST - Babylon: the plot, the dialogue, hallucination scene was awful, disappointing use of the Lone Gunmen. This is NOT how I like my Mulder & Scully.

If we've learned something from the new season, it's that everyone watched the old series with different eyes. I've seen comments saying "The show is exactly the same as it was" as well as comment saying "This has nothing to do with what the show was". I think The X-Files is a very eclectic show and, like I said, everyone watched with different eyes, so I guess it conditions whether people liked or not the new season.

It seemed to me like a lot of viewers had nostalgic memories of The X-Files from the 90's, but hadn't properly watched it in years and weren't sure what to expect? I see a lot of attitudes like that after the third episode aired, many viewers were just shocked that the X-Files would air a comedy episode when it was a show that had always taken itself super seriously in their memories of it
