The X-Files fanfiction thread

I couldn't find the old fanfiction thread, so it probably got lost in the FF crash.

This is your place to discuss your favorite fanfiction

Please keep in mind the FF rules regarding fanfiction:
Quote:
• You can open threads to discuss fan fics on the individual message boards here, but the only place you can directly post fan fics is on the Fan Fiction Forum.
• You can link to Fan Fiction websites, but you can’t link to other Fan Fiction message boards.

Bringing this over from this thread.

“Fox & Rat” Virtual Series ( http://www.foxandrat.com/ ) started back in October 1999, as a string of short stories that eventually evolved into what it is today; a comedy/drama that includes Mulder, Krycek, and many other characters from the Fox show, “The X-Files”. FRVS has its own version of the alien conspiracy mytharc and characterizations, and is currently on hiatus, preparing for season 9. Every Monday leading up to the new season premiere (November 6, 2006), I will be bringing you rerun episodes of some of mine and Kristi’s favorite FRVS episodes of the past 3 seasons.

For those of you who don’t know, “Fox & Rat” Virtual Series began as a comedy spin-off type online X-Files series. The show focused on the friendship and rivalry between main characters Fox Mulder and Alex Krycek. Over the years other characters of the show have come to the fore and operate as main characters alongside Mulder and Krycek. The series follows the work lives and personal lives of the characters of “The X-Files”. The first few seasons of the show focused mainly on slapstick humor, but as the show progressed the writers began adding drama to their story telling and FRVS (as it is abbreviated) transformed from a silly little series into a drama – with a touch of humor here and there to keep with the original concept. In 2005 FRVS won the Virtual Series Award for best series, best comedy, and best drama. We’re quite ranged and appeal to a variety of tastes.

Before you dive in and read FRVS you should be aware that the writers have changed the characters slightly from what you know of them on “The X-Files”. This is a spin-off, not to be looked at as a continuation of “The X-Files” series. From time to time FRVS does refer to something that happened on “The X-Files” series (a case, part of the mytharc, etc.), but that doesn’t mean we’re trying to be a ‘virtual season’ continuation of the show. The relationships in FRVS play out differently from what you saw on “The X-Files”, yes Mulder may have a little crush on Scully, but that doesn’t mean anything romantic will happen between them. The writers enjoy exploring the unconventional relationships of “The X-Files”. Even if you are a Mulder/Scully shipper, you will enjoy this series because the characters of Mulder and Scully are different from “The X-Files”.

So please join us in the fun and read “Fox & Rat” Virtual Series, you won’t be disappointed. If you’d like to receive update alerts direct to your e-mail inbox, please join our FRVS updates list (don’t miss a website update, rerun alert, or new episode): http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/FRVS/

You can also join up with other fans of FRVS at the official forum, Goofy Spooky: http://www.foxandrat.com/forum/ Participate in episode discussions, official FRVS polls, and during the new season you can interact with characters from FRVS in the Fun Times Chit Chat Lounge. There’s a lot of fun to be had on Goofy Spooky, all you have to do is register to join in!

And now I bring you this week’s FRVS rerun episode…

But things really do start to head south when Monica's deranged brother Carlos shows up.
Will Carlos continue his killing spree with Monica and her friends? Or will John and his connections save the day? Find out in tonight's GREAT new episode! [Now with 35% more Grandmama Reyes! ]

Thanks for moving the post into the correct thread. I'll continue to post alerts to new episodes in this thread each week leading to the new season of FRVS I hope you all enjoy the series. It's my 'baby', I've been working hard at it since 1999 (it's the longest running XF virtual series, I think).

Oh yeah I must have missed this thread when I was trying to fix the board. Hopefully this thread gets back up and running again as it was quite active with people posting their fanfics and talking about them

And thanks for bringing that over frvs, looks quite interesting

6x18 "Together, Alone Against The Others"
Written by: Cassie
Air Date: February 2, 2004
Rating: PG
Summary: Scully's awkward date on Valentine's Day takes a dark turn
when an unexpected man comes to talk to her.

Cerasi J's Review:

"Alex is angry because what you broke is very important to the future
of the world and it's very difficult to replace." -Marita

Valentine's Day isn't what it used to be! No candy, flowers or hot
dates for Alex Krycek this year! Why? you ask. Oh, you know, it's the
same old reason... nothing to wear... to place to go... Mulder broke
the only key to saving the world against an uncurable alien virus...
wait... what? With precious time ticking away in the fight against a
world take-over that doesn't involve Iraq or Canada's superior Zamboni
technology, Mulder has somehow found a way to screw things up for
everyone. And this time, it was all in the name of... cake?

Meanwhile, across town, John finally works up the courage to ask Dana
out on this Valentine's Day, no more cookie dough and horror movies
for her! She's moving up! But... is she? After being drugged in an
alley-way by an old lover, Scully finds herself in a jumbled mess of
old flames and govenment plans. Will this Valentine's Day be ruined by
possible world domination? Find out in tonight's marvelous new episode!

Rerun: FRVS 6x23 "advocatus diaboli"

6x23 "advocatus diaboli"
Story by: Cassie & Kristi
Written by: Kristi
Air Date: March 15, 2004
Rating: PG-13 (violence)
Summary: The continuation of "Forcing A Super Buddy".

Cerasi J's Review:

What could be any worse than betrayal? The betrayal of a best friend and Super Buddy would be on the top of my list. After a stange evening in which Mulder was trying to force Brad to become a member of Super Buddies, John offers Dana a ride home. But before she can jump in his truck and they ride off into the sunset, Monica decides it would be the perfect time to extract her Reyes Revenge on Johnny Jay. What happens next is unthinkable, John gets in his truck to drive home, alone, when a car zooms by and hits hits the back of the truck at full speed.

Now, it seems that time is running out, John is deep in a coma and the outcome doesn't look good. And now it seems that the same familiar face who wanted John dead wants Monica that way as well. Who is behind the hit-and-run? And the attack on Monica? It's up to Scully to find out, and when she cracks the case, you're in for a big surprise! Now Scully has to trust the lives of her friends to a man who lives on the run himself. Has she sealed the fate of John and Monica? Find out in this gripping season finale!

Enjoy the re-run!

Just wanted to post a note here, though I'm sure you all have probably heard through various other places, that famed fanfic writer, Brandon Ray died suddenly last week. Beyond 44:58 has done a post-ep tribute to him and I know that Haven has been full of loving messages about Brandon. Don't mean to bring the fic thread down, but he was such an influential and loving member of the fandom and I don't think we will be the same without him.

Some of my favorite fics by Brandon:
Making It Personal (series)
Not a Hallmark Kind of Guy (one of my all-time favorite fics EVER)
The Silver Bracelet series
Summer's Lease

What the hell is John talking about? Did Dana do the right thing in trusting John Montgomery to protect her two closest friends? What will Brad do once he's back in DC and finds Monica missing? Who can they trust? It looks as though Monica should have trusted ALL of her visions and now Dana must find a way to save Monica and herself! Wow - I can't believe there are people who didn't know Brandon Ray - I thought he was one of the most prevelant people in the fandom, kinda like Leyla Harrison. I hope you will enjoy this fics.
