X-Files Discussion - Would you change a character?

I was thinking some of the main stars and some of the gueststars on Xfiles weren't how I thought they should have been. So this is when I came up with the idea, if you could change something about any character from Season 1 to Season 9 and including the movie, who and why would you? Would it be for the better of the character or for the worse?

I wouldn't have had Billy Miles become all evil and crazy. He was a good character in the Pilot and in Requiem and I don't think there was any reason to make him one of those creepy SuperSoldier things. There was no significance that he was one and not someone else.

I wouldn't have made Deep Throat die! He was the most interesting character among the Consortium after CSM. He was more conflicted than the others. He had potential to make good stories.

I would of loved to have seen more Krycek. It would of been nice to know more about his past and how he came to be a part of the syndicate.

If I could have changed anything, Deep Throat would have still been alive. He was such a driving force in the beginning of the series, and a great source of wisdom whenever something threatened to wander astray from the overall truth. I always assumed that he would eventually return later since nobody ever really dies on X-Files, though was disappointed. Even if it was for a brief visitation, I would have loved to see him one more time.

After watching the series finale, I began wondering if he really had died or was his death staged to finally escape the growing threat of the government conspiracy. We saw all the key figures who had died in the name of truth's crusade return in some way to aid Mulder and Scully's final venture, but Deep Throat was missing. Not all truths were revealed after all lol.

Great question Cordy!

I miss X. I thought he was so cool. He had told Mulder that he used to be just like him and I wanted to know more about that.

Changing Scully was bad. She became so weepy and sad near the end. It was tragic to see that. She used to be so strong. She was such a great character though.

I'll never understand why the Lone gunmen had to die?????

I hated that they made CSM so decrepit in the end. He should have been immortal IMO.

With DD leaving and S8 and S9 becoming foreign to me (it lost the X-Files spirit for me), I hated what became of M and S. She became so weary, weak, and weepy and he was just MIA.

I also hated the killing off of The Lone Gunmen and the lame killing of Krychek.

And the disappearance of X and losing Deep Throat. I liked having them in the early days.

I guess in retrospect, I like the older seasons (anything through S5) and the older the show got, the more they strayed with character (and plot) and I just lost that loving feeling. I wouldn't change any character per se, but I'd like to have the M and S of the old days (+ a little 'ship haha) in the later seasons. What they had in themselves at the beginning MADE the show. I'll stop babbling though.

Of course, they did let M and S get together, so I can't hate on it too much.

There are several things I would've changed.

First, I never would've killed off the Lone Gunmen.

Second, I would not have killed Mulder's mother. I thought that was pretty depressing and unnecessary.

Third, I would've done more with Krychek. He was always one of my favorite characters, even though he was evil, and I was always very curious about him.

Finally, and most importantly, I would've ended the series at season 7. When David left the show, I lost interest and the show lost a lot of it's quality and beauty. I think they tried to milk it for too long and should've ended it when David left. I feel like the last two seasons were unnecessary and very disappointing.
