X-Files Discussion - What was the scariest episode?

If you had to pick only one episode, in your opinion which was the scariest XF episode?

I don't know if I would call it the most scary episode but Sanguinarium has a few scenes where I had to turn away from the screen, that liposuction scene being one example

Other than that pretty much every episode in seasons eight and nine were pretty
scary

There are some pretty horrible ones which make me wanna
But I think the really scary things usually happen in my brain after I have watched XF and think "hmmm... that's not that far-fetched! That could actually happen"...

viruses no one has an antidote for... disgusting creatures that can kill you.... politicians who do things behind your back not minding killing a few thousand people... research programs of the government...

WHAT IS NOT SCARY IN XF? is the easier question!

I remember one that involved a kid being possessed by the soul of his dead twin brother, and some Romanian folks performing an exorcism on him... pretty scary stuff.
All the ones that involved Devil/demons were very scary for me.

Yeah, almost every episode is scary. But the one that comes into my mind is one with a little indian guy that had like no legs. He's in a little thing on wheels. That guy gave me nightmares. Am I making any sense ?
I really don't remember the name of the episode or in which season it was.

Oh my! Yeah, the Calusari!
That WAS a scary one... ignoring for sec what could and could not happen in real life and the whole rest of my yadda yadda-comment earlier: That last scene when the Calusari told Mulder to be careful "It knows you now".... *shudder*

This boy was an incredible actor and probably still needs counselling after that role

Yeah, I remember that, it was in one of the last seasons... Didn't the little guy travel inside a fat man's body at the beginning of the episode? That was just weird But yes, he was a scary little guy.

I really don't have a particular episode because there are a lot of episodes that are scary in some way.

One episode that I thought was very disturbing was the one episode that they rarely show and it's also rated TV-MA it's the incest/inbreeding episode I think it's called "Home" I guess you can call it scary. I haven't seen it in a long time and everytime they are going to show it in reruns I forget to see it. But I just remember when they find the mom in the house like under something Very disturbing episode.

I think that was Badlaa, from season 8.

His face reminded me of Joe Pesci, which was scary enough. And his victims could never run away from him. You could hear the wheels of his little cart squeaking and you knew the person was a goner.

I came in here to write the same thing lollies!

Hmmm, scariest ep... the problem is that I've seen them so many times I no longer find them that scary. I guess I'll pick 'Home'. That scene when they kill the sheriff while his wife watches while hiding under the bed is so disturbing.

I wonder why they never had a Hallowe'en episode? Or did they?

That whole episode was disturbing.

- The three guys go to kill the sheriff while Johnnie Mathis' "Wonderful Wonderful" is playing (I'll assume it's on the radio).
- At the beginning of the episode, they are seen burying a baby. Someone remind me, but was the baby already dead when they buried it?
- Their mother is kept under the bed.
- The whole incest thing.

No, in fact you could hear it crying as they dug the grave
This was also the episode they showed as an example to get parental censor chips installed into TV's. Obviously it worked.

I've always found this scene more disturbing than the actual incest aspect. Especially how the wife was under the bed and the Sheriffs blood starts coming towards her.Another thing that always bugged me was Mulder and Scully's reactions to their deaths, I found them a bit cold, I know this shouldn't be unusual, but I thought it was more evident than usual.

I've got to say Home as well. When Mulder and Scully go into the Peacock's house, and it's all in darkness, it's quite creepy. And of course, the mother under the bed, and her voice - eugh. None of the eps scared me as such, but that stuck in my mind.

Also, it wasn't one of my favourite episodes, but Season 9's Hellbound made me jump with those skinned bodies.

Ooh, I've remembered Roadrunners! When Scully goes to the guy's house to see if he has a phone, that's creepy too. And the whole slug/bed incident. Eugh.
