I put myself up for self punishment sometimes! It just touches more on their human sides since on the actual show, they don't show their angst or emotions sides a lot.

That's an awesome edited video!

They are such good actors!

Mulder's puppy dog eyes doesn't help an angst situation from feeling more angsty.

When I see these sorts of videos its hard to remember this show is about murders, aliens and monsters. It looks like a romantic show.

It would never have become such a massive hit without the M/S connection

I dunno about that but I don’t think the shipping phenomenon would be as big

Well, Mulder and Scully fans created the term “shipping”. So it’s the X-Files and M&S thar started the online culture of shipping

It’s funny to think that originally there was a big clash between those who shipped M/S and those who were strongly anti making them anything but platonic, and then that just all died over the years so that you hardly ever hear of fans these days not wanting M/S together

Very true

They didn’t have enough moments IMO

They just made too much sense

I would have liked to have seen them get more romantic moments from season 8 onwards once it’s established that they’re definitely a romantic couple, but CC always seemed wary of writing those kind of moments annoyingly. Kim Manners talks in the commentary for the season 8 finale about how CC didn’t even want them to kiss on the lips at first, he wanted a forehead kiss, and it was David who said that no the fans deserve a proper payoff

And then we never even got to see the time in season 7 when they actually first get together...

I think them not having many 'of those' scenes is what made the X-Files a phenomenon in the first place. clearly, CC was worried that too much romance would destroy the fabric of the show. It's obvious how often he forced them to investigate separately, or how many roadblocks he threw at them. As painful as it was (since the shippers didn't get what they wanted, and what everybody knew had to be coming), I think it was the right decision.

And what a payoff, they really did a good kiss at the prison, even doing it in front of Skinner cause they didn’t care who knew!

David and Gillian fortunately squeezed in some good shipper moments in the episodes they wrote, thankfully. And thankful to them that they noticed how it was going and continued to play it like the feelings were there, despite CC being stubborn cause everyone knew Mulder and Scully only had one outcome after all the chemistry!

But yeah it was supposed to be underlying cause the point of the X-Files was supposed to be about the casefiles... but M&S grew unintentionally on the side.

I did appreciate how David and Gillian directed episodes all had such shippy moments in them it, it seemed like they were as invested as the fans

I know that a lot of people felt like it would change things too much, but I think they could have still had M/S as a low-key couple in the background, while keeping the case investigations the same Perhaps not early on in the series, but once they started really teasing the shippers in season 6, at a certain point they should have just put them together on-screen imo and let it play out. Even in the revival series, it seems that CC would rather split them up then have M/S working cases as a romantic couple though

Leaving us wanting more definitely isn’t bad though
