My favorite episode of season 1 would probably have to be "Ice". There's just something about it that got my attention to their romantic chemistry. And they seemed very touchy feely with eachother in it as well.

I'm not positive that this is S1 (it certainly looks like it though). I was just browsing through the piles of photos of them on the internet and saw this. I like it because it's well... drop dead sexy

I don't think I'd change anything with them either. What I find most spectacular with their relationship over the progression of the series, is that in the beginning they didn't have immediate attraction with eachother. They were professional and over time they grew to realize their feelings. Although I think Scully had a fat crush on him pretty early on in season 1 at some points. Anyway, I find that shows nowadays tend to rush the romantic side of a series because people want it. But X files is a good example of why writers should wait awhile before really going into the romance. There are several series I watch now where they're making it too fast instead of taking their time and letting the viewers ponder over it or wonder if it'll happen and when. Sometimes the beauty of a relationship in a tv series is watching it unfold and go on this huge rollercoaster type plotline before you see the results. Sorry for the mini-rant.

And I agree, a lot of shows like Bones force the sexual attraction from the first episode to try and capture what M/S had, but the X-Files wasn't really like that with M/S teases until the 6th and 7th seasons. From the beginning it was more about building an unbreakable bond of trust between a man and a woman, and that was what people responded too

Totally agree with you both GA & DD had a natural chemisty and that evolved over time, whereas now they shove it down your throat. I went right off Bones when it became all about their relationship. What I love about XF is that it built up the friendship, then the trust, and that naturally went on to what it became. Now it's not as deep as that, it's all very rushed.

And Scully totally had a great big freakin crush on Mulder

I liked the early signs of complete and utter jealousy. Just think of Fire, right in the first season, and of course Syzygy later on.

I liked how their relationship developed, but I also admired the bond they had right away. The way they go talking in the pilot or how she ran to him when she thought she had that mark on her back. They clicked
