Yeah that was so weird, she’s practically sitting there with tears in her eyes in shock and Mulder is asking about getting a boat in the water to chase sea monsters.

He was pretty oblivious to how upset Scully was at first, I guess he’s just not a dog person, so didn’t realise how much it shock her up

Well he’s pretty clueless sometimes. Remember when she came in with the wine and he was more interested in chasing monsters.

Yeah I don’t think he was deliberately insensitive there, he was just so wrapped up in the case and didn’t realise that Scully was legit upset about her funny little dog

Like I indicated in another thread, it’s not a surprise Mulder was oblivious to Scully’s feelings. One track mind! He did say he was sorry, but oblivious to the fact her mind wasn’t on the case and needed to give her a moment. Then on the rock he said he was sorry again. Other people’s emotions sometimes are easy for him to not notice when he’s in his own world.
