A lot of people do that when they’re being interviewed I’ve noticed, or they’ll say ‘you know what I mean’ every other sentence It can be very distracting, but then I suppose it’s a nervous habit for some people if they’re more used to having a script to follow

She did that in her latest podcast as well and it seemed like it was taking her a lot of time to think of a response. It just bothers me because it comes off as unprofessional. But I guess that's because I've done so much public speaking that I taught myself how to avoid filler words like that.

What were they discussing there? I don't remember.

Yeah, Gillian seems to think about what to say while she’s in the middle of saying it. Unless she’s following a script dialogue, she doesn’t naturally speak fluently.

I can’t even do public speaking at all, so I definitely get the nerves and trying to think up what to say, wanting to make sure that you are expressing yourself properly Some people can struggle with it more, especially actors I guess who are used to working off a script

I have experience doing public speaking, but when I speak without a script, I can stumble. I prefer to think before I’m speaking too, but I hope I don’t use filler words. Sometimes people can be “blind” to how they sound.
