I would have to say I am more in the first group. I think it is quite a funny episode with some great little M + S moments. I wouldn't say it's quite up there in the the same class as Bad Blood, Jose Chung..., Small Potatoes etc when it comes to the really great comedy episodes. The story was a bit weak but it is very enjoyable nonetheless with some really good laughs And of course Mulder and Scully are married!!! Who couldn't love that?

I agree its not in the same league as the other comedy eps, but it was cute. Actually if it were not for the cute shipper scenes the ep would have totally sucked cos the story and the monster very weak.

I loved to see Mulder and Scully a bit relaxed in this episode. Esp Mulder he seemed to be enjoying a lot more than scully.

How many of you actually found this to be scary??

I liked Arcadia at first and it's still one of my favorite episodes, though it's grown less shippy for me over many viewings.

It was very fanfic-y in concept, but the reality just didn't suit how I thought they would act in that situation. I didn't understand how or why Scully acted the way that she did with some of Mulder's antics. He invades her space and touches her from day one and yet here, she's shurgging off his arm and wearing green face masks. I've seen a ton of fanfic explanations, but I'm just not sure any of them are really right.

The "casefile" part of it was laughable and stupid. I remember when it was being filmed that there were a LOT of problems shooting and they had to move out without it being really finished or rewritten properly, which is why it turned out the way it did.

Ah. Thanks for the background info, Jenn. I had no idea about there being problems during shooting.

But I agree with the rest of you. I don't think it qualifies as a good episodes, nevertheless, I love to go back and watch it again and yes, for the exact same reason that I read fanfic.

About Mulder and Scully being in character or not. I totally buy Mulder's behaviour. About Scully I'm not sure. Yes, it was kind of weird of her to shrug him off. I would believe that she was maybe a little uncomfortable with that much "fake" intimacy. I think it can be irritating if someone gets as close as you would like him to for the wrong reasons - if that makes any sense.

So, it's a fun eppy to relax together with Mulder and Scully and watch them smile and touch a little .

I love this episode but I guess I wouldn't if I weren't a shipper I think the garbage monster idea whatsoever was quite dump. But I didn't really care as I only watched it for the shipper scenes, I have to admit
Holli, I get your point about Mulder's behavior and Scully's reaction! I also think she felt uncomfortable because she was irritated. But I don't think his behavior was all fake, I think he just saw an opportunity to get closer to her without having to justify anything and that was sweet

I agree Eilleen. I also don't think that Mulders behaviour was really fake, just that Scully had to assume it was to some degree. Which of course would then be kind of annoying.
