LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 21, 2007) — David Duchovny is back on TV in Showtime’s “Californication,” but it may not be long before he hits the big screen for another go-round of “The X-Files!” David sat down with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush, and he revealed that not only is there a script for the “X-Files” sequel - he’s actually read it! “I have,” said David, when Billy asked if he’d read it. “But I’m sworn to secrecy legally, actually. If I were to tell you anything about it I would — I would be sued.” Duchovny, who played the truth-seeking Agent Fox Mulder on the hit FOX series (and in the feature film), indicated last month during the Television Critics Association press tour that the long-delayed sequel may finally be coming to fruition — with co-star Gillian Anderson “on board” to reprise her role as skeptic-turned “believer,” Agent Dana Scully. He added that “X-Files” creator Chris Carter and series executive producer Frank Spotnitz wrote the screenplay, which he had expected to see within the week. Well, apparently he’s seen it — and while he legally can’t discuss the details...he wouldn’t want to anyway! “We’re gonna try to keep it under wraps and try to keep it a surprise,” he told Billy. “You know, unfortunately, I think with so much media attention on show business, it’s hard to — it’s almost impossible to think of, like, a ‘Sixth Sense’ coming out now.” Duchovny is of course referring to the surprise twist ending of M. Night Shyamalan’s 1999 film, which probably wouldn’t be able to stay a “surprise” in this world of online spoilers. In an interview with Sci-Fi.com last year, Spotnitz revealed that the sequel’s story would not rely on the oft-confusing “alien conspiracy” plotlines that permeated the show’s nine seasons. “One of the things that was exciting about doing it is to not make it a mythology story, and it’s like one of the stand-alone episodes,” he said, adding, “it’s a bit scary.” And while it remains to be seen if Spotnitz’s description still applies, Duchovny is not about to spill the beans! “I hope that we’re able to kind of keep this inside a bubble and surprise people,” were his last words on the matter.

He clearly no longer feels the X Files role was a compromise, though he spared no scorn for his character’s gullibility in interviews at the time, describing Mulder as the worst FBI agent ever. He’s just signed up for the second X Files movie, along with Anderson and the show’s creator, Chris Carter. He’s seen and loves the script. What brought him back into the fold? “There has not been a show that has made it as long as we did, at as high a level of achievement as we did, ever,” he says with pride. “Alias went for five seasons, Lost has done four – I mean, come to me when you’ve done eight and are still one of the best shows on television. And there was so much interest in it. So . . .” He shrugs again. Is there a craving for that global fame again? Does he want to go back to the days of X Files Beatle-mania? “I wish,” he laughs. “I don’t think you could ever feel like a Beatle. They knew they were doing something great, I think. Although . . .” The thought trips mischievously across his face. “Maybe they didn’t, because they weren’t together as long as we were. In fact, we were better than the Beatles. I mean, come on, 1962 to 1970? They couldn’t even make it to a ninth year.”

YAY! I'm stoked you get to go Cindy! I still need to get my ticket. But I wantto make sure I get the right one. Whats the difference between the two prices? I get that I need the day pass for the 23rd, but I'm trippen on trying to get it and Print it out (as I have no printer..aw). Gees, I hope I can find my way down there. I've never really driven around SanFran. Maybe i'll take the train there, and figure it out when I get there. Ya'll wanna meet up somewhere? I'm going up by myself, and it's not so cool when you are walkin around a strange city alone... Just a thought.

Make sure you buy the ticket from a computer that has a printer. It sucks that they don't e-mail you the ticket and I almost made the mistake of buying it on my computer but then saw the little notice they have and used my sister's computer. Also get the one day pass that you can use on Friday or Saturday. They're only $12 on the website and at least your sure you have a ticket. And plan to be there early Saturday morning because their giving out the badges to get in at 8 am. I'm going to be there at 6-7 am or earlier. I'm going to hopefully meet up with some other X-Philes, or else it's going to be a pretty long boring wait. Go to the X-Files ultimate site or haven if you want to make some plans to meet up .

I'm so jealous... I would love to attend such a convention. I'm sure they won't come to a signature session in Holland or Belgium (in Holland it seems they always have the same people, from Allo Allo and from Star Wars)

I KNOW all about it! I'm from Belgium too, and I always go to the F.A.C.T.S. fair in Gent and also to some record fairs in Holland and it's ALWAYS the people from Allo Allo or Star Wars.

I never been to F.A.C.T.S. (I didn't want to risk it for my wallet), but I went to Utrecht a few times (for the record fair mainly). I met David Prowse (the real Darth Vader) and it was fun... but I would love DD and GA to attend.. or even some other actors from XF. If this happens, we can meet

I was also at the latest fair in Utrecht When was that, November, December? Unfortunately I can't make it to the next one in April

Oh, you should definitely come to F.A.C.T.S. but yes, I always spend too much money there too It would be very cool if some XF actors come to such fairs, but honestly, Belgium? I don't think it's going to happen...
