Shippers #4 - Because, Hell, we invented the term shipper!
Welcome to the new thread. Thanks goes to Cathangel for the title

Love the title. And thanks for clearing that up. I thought for years that the term 'shipper' did refer exclusively to Mulder and Scully but I wasn't sure when I saw everybody using it.

Aw, that's a cute picture. I have it in my collection of pictures of way back when.
And thanks Lollies for using my suggestion to start the new thread. Not many threads bear my title ideas. I'm touched. |

I'm sure the only reason I don't know this is that I'm relatively new to XF, but where did the term "shipper" come from, anyway?

It's short for Relationshipper, which was the name given to people who wanted Mulder and Scully to be in a relationship. Those who didn't were called NoRoMos (No Romance) and those who weren't sure were called FenceSitters. There was also a division of shippers called FiniShippers who didn't want Mulder and Scully to get together until the end of the series.

I didn't know the term 'shipper' came from XF...which is so cool! Thanks for the explanation -Jenn-.
NetLingo.com even refers to M/S when explaining 'shipper' |

I wrote a paper about it in college, so I'm glad I remember what I wrote

It was a freshman composition class and we had to write a "definition" paper, so I wrote about the definition of shippers and such. It was great until we had to do peer editing...then I felt like a complete dork But I got an A, so it's all good!
