HFPA in Conversation: Gillian Anderson on Taking on a Challenge

This is the podcast I was just listening to. It was so damn good and they asked her incredible questions. They asked her if we could live in her head for 24 hours, what would we learn. She deadass said we'd learn that she's self-obsessed, petty, and childish.

I was dying because same lmao. And I just love listening to the way she talks about her kids.

I liked that podcast! GA is kind of a slow talker. Like she's actively thinking about what she's going to say before she says it.

I was looking at the news when they were announcing the nominees and they'd almost announced everyone before they announced Gillian. I legit thought she wouldn't get a nomination and was so pissed that I text my friend and was about to cry.

Yea, I thought so too. She put a lot of thought into her responses and answered everything so thoroughly.

When GA talked about the bad review that was personal that made her consider quitting acting, I actually found it and I got mad at the reviewer cause he described her as "big boned" and I'm like where the hell is he getting that impression cause she's small and definitely not big boned!!

I like when she said she would say Just Say No to her 10 yrs old self and the interviewer asked to expand and she just said no!

I was going to look that up! I can't believe he said that!! I love that Gillian didn't hold back and said his name. Women in Hollywood are expected to be so skinny and some people just aren't built that way. Like, there was a point in TXF when I thought Gillian was way too thin so I'm sure the pressure got to her.

That was cute! I liked when she talked about where she'd go if she only had one day left to live. She mentioned she'd take her kids to a place in Canada but wouldn't elaborate where but I feel like I know what she was talking about. I also liked when they asked her what she'd do if she had $1M to spend in a day and she said she'd give it to charity. As if I couldn't love her even more.

I couldn't figure out where in Canada she would want to go.

I'm glad they have a favorite place or thing to do in my country though!

Well, not if this place only exists in Canada. I only guessed that because she said it's two of her kids' favorite thing to do and I know her sons are big into doing stunts on their BMX bikes lol. I forgot their IGs but I'll share some videos if I find them, they're really good!

Same! When I read the nominations with Olivia and Emma I thought that Gillian must have been snubbed and was really sad for her, then came across the supporting category and breathed a sigh of relief

The supporting actresses list was up when I checked though but it only had four nominees on it so I knew they just hadn't announced the last person yet. As much as I love Helena, I want Gillian to win this.

I think that Gillian is the favourite, but who knows how it will go. Just getting nominated is still very cool though!

Seeing Olivia and Emma nominated in best actress threw me at first because I had been assuming that Emma would be nominated under supporting, so I thought that meant that there was just the one acting category like there is with some award shows, and that Gillian had been left out

It is up to the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to decide the winner and it's apparent that they love her.

Emma has been nominated as the lead everywhere else so far though.
