It always seemed a bit put-on to me tbh considering how much of her life she spend in America that she would suddenly have this cut glass English accent, but I guess you never know

Well, children develop an accent was soon as they can speak fluently and Gillian spent the first 11 years of her life in the UK. But she has said that she eventually lost that accent when she moved here. Who knows what her real accent is but she sounds so different than other UK people.

I think Gillian intentionally lost the UK accent on purpose to fit in more in Michigan as a teen. But in the back of her brain, the accent programming was still there.

I remember her talking about being teased in London for being an American, and then when her family moved to the US she was teased for being English, so it very much sounded like she was caught between the two
