Season 11 is halfway through airing and Duchovny said fans knowing it would be Gillian’s last has given it a different flavour to the one they initially set out to make.

S11 feels off, somehow.

Knowing it, it feels to me like Season 11 is building up to some kind of Scully departure which I'm dreading exactly what.

Well, he claims that's exactly not what it is.

But since we all know about GA's decision, that's what we read into it.

To me, that's why this season feels strange. Ignorance would be bliss.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't know if it would have been better for us to hear about her leave when the season is over. We would have seen the end of the season, the cliffhanger, would have thought "Oh wow, they stoped with a cliffhanger, what happens next? Sounds like a new season!", and then Gillian would have published her intention to leave...I think that would be worse. She will leave either way, no matter when she publishes it. She doesn't give us false hope.

Maybe it's good now that we can prepare to say goodbye. The ratings aren't that good. It would be a a real suprise for me when Fox renews it. I hope CC won't be that selfish to do another one. Without Scully the show would die a terrible rating-death - and I don't want to see it end that way.

I remember the weird Duchovny photos, but :lol: never saw much of GA's photo shoots, her hair and is she on Mars pointing a nuke missle at herself? What is that message of the photo saying?

GA keeps going back and forth seemingly on their relationship. Recently she said they really don't know each other still. I guess she has a point, it's not like they hang out after long hours at work after spending work days together. The Gilovny fans are disappointed cause they see the cute hugs they give each other and photo shoots and believe they are close friends.

Tbh I don’t really understand either how Gillian can say that they can’t know one another well, they’ve been co-workers for *so* many years, and that was a lot of hours spend together in seasons 1-7 especially. It seemed like David and Gillian did talk about how close they were more in the run-up to season 10 and were getting very nostalgic, so I agree that Gillian does seem a bit back and forth, idk I get the vibe that Gillian is just really over the X-Files these days :shrug:

I don't know why this seems to be such a great deal. She never said that they aren't friends and she often mentioned that they have a history. When they see each other (XF S11) they spend an intense time together but beside...when you see the facts: They live on different continents, they have a very busy jobs, have their familys and children...of course they can't be that close most of the time. People tend to overanalyse every word they say, but the truth is usually somewhere in between. Just my opinion...

Sometimes I wonder if GA is a person anyone could possibly know well.

Don't get me wrong....I don't mean this in a negative way. She just seems like constantly changing.

I don't want to defend her, Stewie, this is not the reason I wrote that. It's not that important to me ;)We all just know GA from TV and interviews. And they just show us a certain perspective. Media can be kind of manipulating, sometimes without being aware of it. They chose special questions in order to get a special output. At the end we can't know in which context GA said some things.
What I want to say is: You can't really know someone that way. You see a pic and you can't say how the person is really feeling. You would just know if you were a friend,family etc.
