It’s so weird, back then, I was young but I thought the Cigarette Smoking Man was old. And have to admit I was surprised he was still alive today, more than 25 years later to still be around. I guess to my young eyes, William B. Davis looked like an old guy... but he is 80 now, he wasn’t really that old in 1993

I guess CSM is immune to the effects of a bad smoking habit.

Should we still be calling him CSM here or just Carl?

I think 80 is his stage age he's really 125

If you think of it, he was 55 in 1993 which as you said he looks older than that.

He was a cult figure i dont think they realised what his popularity would be at the beginning. Didn't speak until episode 18.

I can’t call him Carl, sorry

And David Duchovny is 57 years old today, so the CSM was actually younger than present-day Mulder at the start of the series He definitely always came across as late 60’s-early 70’s to me, I wasn’t really expecting him to still be acting by the time of the revival either I guess how wrinkled and lined CSM’s skin was when he was only in his 50’s is an effective warning for staying away from smoking

What? Woah, man! People really are de-aging lately. 20 years ago, 55 yr olds looked older and now they still wear sneakers and t shirts. just comparing the styles of those two.
