Hale has turned that concept into his first children’s book, titled “Archibald’s Next Big Thing.” It follows a bald chicken who embarks on fantastic adventures, yet is always looking for what’s next instead of living in the moment.

One could say this feeling is just an occupational hazard. After all, once an acting gig is done, you need more work. “You get trained to always be looking for that next thing, even when you’re on a job,” he says. “And everybody’s always asking ‘What’s next for you?’”

Hale says this mentality has been with him his whole life – from childhood, through college and during the last 10 years as he’s slowly become an in-demand actor. And he tried to be more present when Netflix started shooting the “Arrested” fourth season in 2012. “To be able to go back [to “Arrested Development”] after years of learning this lesson … it was so fantastic to step back into Buster’s shoes and really enjoy it,” he says. “It’s the discipline of waking myself up to where I am.”
