The cast is enormous for a series and the network would only allow a finite number of regulars (the budget wouldn't support anymore). So some characters could only be afforded as guest stars initially. But that doesn't mean that won't be seen again, or that their fates are predestined. It's really just a matter of creative bookkeeping. Emilie about her character and the relationship between Charlie and Claire: She wants to do things her own way, but she's now succumbing to accepting a little help from people like Charlie, who's really taken a liking to Claire. There's a friendship that's developed there that I think has also helped him trough his hard times, with coming off his heroin addiction. So, that's been a nice thing there, him helping her and also her helping him. I don't know where the relationship is going beyond a friendship, though. Dom about the Charlie/Claire relationship: I don't know if it will fully blossom. I keep asking the writers, and they're like, "You know, right now we got something really good going on. It's a very sweet, kind, nurturing kind of friendship. Claire: No pain. Charlie: *smiles brilliantly* Birthing emergency averted. I told you I'd take care of you. Claire: Thanks Charlie. Charlie: You're quite welcome. You think you can make it back to the caves? *Claire pauses* I won't let anything happen to you. Claire: *Claire looks down but smiles and nods slowly. She speaks in a soft voice* Okay. Charlie: *smiles and nods as well* Ok Charlie: Please let me carry your bag. Claire: I'm fine. Charlie: I know you're fine but I can still carry your bag. Claire: Why did you come after me?
