Yeah, I never got that either.. Probably she was killed off, because we had too many main characters with the introduction of the 3 taillies. Although this doesn't make sense for me cause Ana Lucia, Libby and Eko died just a couple episodes later.
I know that Cuse and Lindelof said that her death served a "a number of story purposes, the most important being, that [they] wanted the tail section people, and [the] core group of castaways to be sort of forced to merge under incredibly uncomfortable circumstances" (source lostpedia shannon).
Although I think that Boone had just died, and Shannon died too fast after him. It was just a gap of 10 episodes and both were main characters.
For me the show was never the same, because I really liked Maggie's portrayal of Shannon. She was my favorite female of the 4 original female leads and I wanted to know how her relationship with Sayid would have developed when they both left the island and Sayid met Nadia.

Well I think the show was still good but I just think they killed Shannon off way to early, she wasn't my favorite but I think if she stayed on longer she would have eventually became one of my favorite. I agree it would have been so interesting to see how it would've been if Sayid was with Shannon and they left the Island and Sayid met up with Nadia.

I would have liked to see that triangle.... mainly to see how Sayid would be. How his being conflicted would be.

I think that Shannon brought the lightness to his world.

Yes, it would have been great to see that conflict in him... although I think he would have choosen Shannon... not at first when seeing Nadia but after a short time, he would have realized that Nadia will always belong to his dark past and that only with Shannon he can start a new, brighter life...

Yes, you said it perfectly with your qoute, I think that Shannon really changed him, she made him forget all his bad memories and he could just be with her It was such a sweet romantic story until they killed her off and that way too early! ;(
At least they got a final and bittersweet moment in the last episode. However, I'm disappointed that they cut some dialogue of it down.

This is perfect. I understand people where upset that Nadia wasn't "the love of his life" but she did represent his past, his dark past. Shannon was the future for him in which he could start over

I think he would have, I'm sure he would have been very conflicted but if he fell in love with Shannon, I believe he will be with her. I think he's really loyal when he loves someone so if he loved Shannon as well as Nadia still, it would have been difficult for him but I think Nadia was so much a part of his dark past that it would have made it easier for Sayid to move on to Shannon, if he was looking for a change. A brighter life.

It was way too early to kill her off and yes I'm upset with the shortening of their dialogue.

Yes, Sayid is really a loyal person and when he told her that he loved her & that he will never leave her, great moment actually , he would have stayed with her... At the beginning, he was searching for Nadia but then he found Shannon on the island, and if his feelings for Nadia would have been so strong, he would never have started his relationship with Shannon..

I wished that sometimes after her death, he had spoken about her, because he never mentioned her until season 6.
In season 4 episode 3 he met Elsa and Elsa resembled Shannon a lot. I think they should've made a scene where Sayid saw Shannon in Elsa... and Elsa died the same way Shannon died...

That was a beautiful moment. cause you truly felt and believed him.
I love how quickly he fell for her, I always like to say she's the lightness to his dark life and that's why he fell for her. He needed someone like her. Nadia was a part of that dark past he needed to let go.

Probably he didn't feel the need to mention her? like he felt it in his heart, but mentioning it probably would've hurt more.

Shannon didn't have the great life as well, it seems like she is use to everyone leaving her and think she's useless. until Sayid came along.
