Fun and Interesting Facts thread #1
I get these emails and some of them are pretty interesting.
I got this one today: In Episode 1x5, White Rabbit, Geoff Heise plays the morgue doctor who tells Jack that his father has died. In Episode 1x1, Pilot Part 1, Geoff Heise runs across the beach right after the crash yelling, "Stay away from the gas! Stay there!" It's unclear whether the same actor was simply used twice, or if the morgue doctor was actually on the flight. If he was on the flight, he must not have lived long after the crash, because it seems he and Jack would have recognized each other, plus, being a doctor, he could have taken some of the pressure off of Jack. Episode 1x11, All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues, Locke and Boone search through the jungle for Claire and Charlie. They have a red shirt and rip strips to tie on trees so that Boone can find his way back if something happens to Locke. They have this conversation: "Ever watch Star Trek?" Boone asks. "Nah, not really," Locke says. "The crew guys that would go down to the planet with the main guys, the captain and the guy with the pointy ears, they always wore red shirts. And they always got killed." Fans call the Lost extras, or background people, Red Shirts. The creators and writers will sometimes call the extras "Red Socks" as a joke. Good Idea Ker!
I don't remember where I read this but Boone was originally supposed to be called Five. |

Yeah, I know Boone was still supposed to be his real name. Five was just a nickname.

The idea for the backstory of Rose being terminally ill came from the real life of the actress who portrays her. L. Scott Caldwell married a terminally ill man right around the time they shot the pilot. He died later that year. Source: LOST: The Official Magazine #5, 2006 __________________

Several years ago, when Evangeline Lilly (Kate) was a waitress, her friend Dave, a chef at the restaurant where she worked, told her that one day she would be famous. He told her that when she goes on Leno she has to say his name. Seven years later, after landing the role of Kate on Lost, Evangeline found herself on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, but she forgot to say her friend's name, even though Dave had told everyone she would. The next time she was on, she forgot again. But the third time she was on, she brought Dave with her and he got to be on Leno too. Source: The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
