Daire (Desmond/Claire) Appreciation #2: Its His Pleasure to Be There for Her

(We see Claire getting ready to give Aaron an injection)
Desmond: You’re wasting your time, sister. I shot myself with that stuff every nine days for three years. (He looks at Aaron) He’s lovely. Is the father here on the island?
Claire: No. Nope, he’s been gone a long time. Sort of walked off the moment he got a bit scared by the situation.
Desmond; Well, maybe he knew he’d be a lousy dad – thought he was doing what was best for you.
Claire: He was doing what was best for him.

- 2x23: Live Together, Die Alone

(We see Desmond sitting on the beach at camp deep in thought, watching Claire and Aaron. He approaches Claire as she writes in her journal.)
Desmond:You’ve, um, you’ve got a problem with your roof.
Claire: What?
Desmond: Look, maybe you should move down the beach, just for tonight. That way I can fix it – make some improvements.
Claire: That’s really nice of you to offer, but Aaron just fell asleep, so I should . . .
Desmond: No, it would be worth it. I promise.
Charlie: Whatcha doing, brother?
Desmond: I was just offering to help fix this roof here.
Charlie: Roof? It’s fine. If there’s a problem, I’ll fix it. I’m quite handy. I was building a church before Eko exploded.
Desmond: Right. Well, I was just trying to help.
Claire: Thanks.

-3x04: Every Man for Himself

(Claire coughs up water and regains consciousness)
Charlie: Claire!
Desmond: Are you all right? Come on, you’re okay. Lets get you back to the tent.
Charlie: Charlie’s here!
Desmond: It’s all right, Charlie. (Lifting Claire) All right, lets get her back to her tent.
Charlie: Is she okay? Let me help.
Desmond: I got it, Charlie.

-3x08: Flashes Before Your Eyes

(We see Desmond sitting on the beach looking at a picture of Penelope and himself. Claire approaches.)
Claire: She’s beautiful.
Desmond: Aye, thanks.
Claire: What’s her name?
Desmond: Penny. Well, Penelope. How are you feeling?
Claire: Still a little shaken up. I mean, I go swimming almost every day – the undertow just grabbed me. I mean, if . . . if you hadn’t –
Charlie: (appearing, carrying Aaron) Claire? I thought you were only going to be five minutes. Aaron’s starving.
Claire: Yeah, um, sorry, I . . . (to Desmond) Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you so much for being there.
Desmond: It’s my pleasure.

-3x08: Flashes Before Your Eyes

Claire: What the hell are you doing?
Desmond: You followed me. Stay back!
Claire: It's one of the birds.
Desmond: Stay back.
Claire: How did you know it was gonna be here?
Desmond: I didn't.
Claire: Yes, you did. You had to. That's what you and Charlie were arguing about. You knew.
Desmond: How would I?
Claire: I don't know, but you walked straight here. No doubt at all about where you were going. You came right to this beach and right to this rock. And, lo and behold, there's the bird. What the hell is going on, Desmond?
Desmond: See that spot over there? That's where Charlie slipped and fell in. He got pounded again and again by the rocks and broke his neck.
Claire: What? What are you talking about?
Desmond: That's where Charlie died.

thanks so much for starting the thread.

That was sad when Des was watching Charlie die. I kinda like that slash ship :lol:
But we better see the moment where Des tells Claire that Charlie didn't make it. I want him to comfort her.

You know, I wonder if they are still friends in the future. It will be heartbreaking for the others to see how Claire is going to react to Charlie dying.

I think with the new flash forward format we'll actually be able to see where the baby Aaron mystery goes. Cause the only way it can be explored is if we see Aaron grown up, right?

and wasn't it spookey how Aaron cried when Charlie died? Like he's a psychic baby or something.

It would be great to see Claire in the future, just once she doesn't get an awful prop, like Jack's beard

Aww, I'm glad Charlie got a good death. I liked him more in the last episode than I have since season one, especially in his communication with Desmond through the window in his last moments.

To completely step all over poor Charlie's grave, though, I hope his death means that we see more Des/Claire interaction, whether its in the future or in island/real-time or whatever. Especially since Desmond ended up being such a friend to Charlie, I hope he and Claire get a chance to interact and form a relationship because they're both so affected by Charlie's death.

As his death got closer and closer he started to grow on me :lol:

Maybe when they're all rescued Claire will live with Des & Penny. She can be their house guest....you know :D

I appreciated DM as an actor but his character just didn't go anywhere. But Claire and Des they have a destiny...we've all seen it. Penny get in the way. How awesome would it be that Des/Claire got together...that they would be each other's destinies? And that he would be a part of Aaron's? Cause you know that kid has something big in store for him!

I want to know Aaron's destiny more than anything. And now with the flashforwards we can find out, right?

Yeah the flashforwards we can see more of him as he gets older, depending if they can find a child to play him older.

I don't mourn his death either jayta don't worry

they prob can. There's lots of little boys out there who can play the part.

yeah aaron's so interesting. and i'd really like des to get over penny. i just think she's soooo boring. blah blah...

What I do like about des/penny is that they're old lovers reunited. I'm a sucker for storylines like that. And the Odyssey was a good book.
But something needs to happen with Claire. I think Em/Henry are just too friendly off set not to have scenes.

yeah i love that it seems like they've struck up a friendship....kind of like evie and josh...

i love it when people who work together are friends.

i understand old lovers reunited theme, but most of the time (almost 98% of the time) i'll be rooting for the newbie who gets shoved to the side because of said 'old flame'....:lol:

yea, it's fun seeing how certain members of the cast are always standing next to each other. Like Josh/Emilie or Emilie/HIC

I think a lot of the time I root for the underdog. The person who has no chance in hell of being with someone or couple who I know will never be together &/or last. Esp when the person who isn't the underdog is very annoying.

I know it will be good. I have complete faith in your writing skills. I mean, the story has been great so far so the ending can't NOT be great.
