Kate waits for him in the doorway of the tent-he stops opposite her, they’re standing close, her heart pounds in her chest-Jack leans in, she gazes at him-was he about to kiss her...? she leans up-anticipating his lips to meet hers-but to her dismay and embarrassment he simply reaches past her and picks up his backpack-Kate shoots him a look...
Kate:*studying him* are you playing me?
Jack looks innocent: why would i do something like that?
Kate frowns as he walks away...her frown turns to a mischievous smile, two could play at this game.

Their feet trample over twigs and leaves as they come to a halt by the lake...
Kate looks at Jack: can we stop here for a break?
Jack nods: we can stop here for a rest...
Kate nods: great,*she lets down her hair and begins to strip down to her underwear-Jack stares at her*
Jack: w-what are you doing?! There could be creeps out here-
Kate rolls her eyes: i’m just going for a swim...*his eyes drift over her-she smirks, feeling somewhat triumphant. Still got it...* wanna join me?
Jack meets her sultry gaze, he gulps as his mouth goes dry: no-no-i’m uh...i think i’m gonna sit here and read a book...
Kate smiles at him: your choice...*she dives into the lake, fully aware that he’s gazing at her*
Jack’s eyes drift back to Kate as she swims in the lake, his heart pounded in his chest-he silently scolds himself, turning his attention back to the book-Kate climbs out of the water, Jack feels his heart thud, the water glistens in the sunlight as it drips from her body-she reaches into her backpack, pulling out a towel, she begins to dry herself off...
Kate: how’s the book?
Jack mumbles: the book’s good-it’s good-
As she pulls on her jeans she grins...
Jack: what?
Kate pulls on her tanktop...she walks over to him, crouching opposite him, she takes the book from his hands and turns it the right way up-Jack winces.
Kate smiles: that might make it easier to read.
She lingers close for a moment, with that she walks back over to her backpack-
Jack pauses: wait-are you playing ME now? Is that what this is?
Kate feigns innocence: why would i do that?
Jack shakes his head at her, she was good...but he was better...
Jack climbs to his feet, Kate looks at him: where you goin?
Jack shrugs: to pee...wanna come?
Kate scowls: no, i’m good.
He really knew how to suck the romance out of the moment.
Kate sits under the tree as she dabs her hair with a towel...she felt pretty smug. Jack was wrapped around her finger-and he knew it, and he hated it-and she loved that. She breaks into a grin...she hears a twig snap-she looks up-
Kate:...Jack?
There’s no response...Kate rolls her eyes: come on-you don’t seriously think i’ll fall for that-do you?

Kate climbs to her feet-something flies past her-hitting a tree, it comes to a stop...her eyes grow huge as the pen knife sticks out of the tree-what the hell-?
Kate:*scared now* Jack-that not’s funny...-
Her heart starts to pound in her chest-she hears a twig snap to her left-she jerks her head in the direction of the noise-there’s no one there-
Kate:*getting desperate to believe its Jack* don’t screw with me Jack-
The sound of someone yelling makes her jump-
Jack’s voice echoes through the jungle: argh!
Kate turns on her heel on instinct and heads towards his pained yells...
Kate: Jack...?! i’m coming! Hold on!
She prays to herself as she sprints through the jungle-please be okay, please, please be okay-
She looks confused as she comes to a cave at the end of the path-this was it? Where was he? was he okay? Questions whirl through her mind as her eyes scan the cave for a sign of Jack-
Someone grabs her from behind-she lets out a scream-Jack cracks up, laughing his heart out-Kate shoves him in the chest, pushing him off her as he laughs loudly...
Kate glares at him: you JERK!*she shoves him again as he climbs to his feet, he can’t help but chuckle, she seethes* what if something had really happened?!
Jack slowly stops laughing as he realises how much he spooked her...
Kate scowls at him, she shakes her head...
Kate: don’t EVER pull a stunt like that again-or i swear i’ll kill you...
Jack fights back a grin, it starts to rain...Kate groans...
Kate: great...just great...
Jack looks up at the sky: it’s getting dark, we’re gonna have to wait in the cave till it stops raining, then we can think about heading back...
Kate gives him a look: yeah, right-because after what you just did-i’m gonna CHOOSE to spend time with you...
Jack sighs: come on, i was kidding-
Kate looks exasperated: ‘kidding’? no Jack-Kidding is when its FUN-what you did was Cruel-
Jack gives her a look: how i that any crueller than you teasing me??
Kate stares at him: i used Nudity-i didn’t fake my death!
Jack looks at her, he mutters: who’s the drama queen now?
She smacks his arm-
Jack: ow!
Kate shakes her head: you’re a sick man doctor.
Jack smirks: i won.
Kate: you SO did not-
Jack glares at her: come on-i SO did-when you thought i was hurt, you were totally freaked out-
Kate gives him a warning look...she somehow managed to love him and be defensive of the fact she loved him both at once...
She walks into the cave, almost sulking...
Jack smiles slightly: it was sweet though...*she presses her back against the wall and slowly sits down as he continues, he gazes at her* the way you dropped everything and ran to help me...that was sweet...
Kate ignores him...
Jack: come on, you can’t ignore me all night...
Kate: well-i’m not gonna talk to you all night, so ignoring you should work out just fine...
Jack studies her: Kate...?
Kate looks at his eyes, there was something sincere about them, she sighs...who was she kidding she couldn’t resist Jack...
Kate: fine.
Jack smiles as he walks over to her, he sits besides her so they’re sitting shoulder to shoulder...
Kate leans her head on his shoulder as she watches the rain...Jack glances down at her, he smiles slightly...
