In two years that we have been doing this show, and the couple of months that these two people have existed in these circumstances on the island - right now is the closest they have ever been. When you see how the years ends, it's going to be really interesting to see where it goes next year.

Yayyy, new thread. So I've been thinking about this skex and if it was all part of a master plan/hidden plot. I mean, I guess only time will tell, but remember that during Kate/Monica and Kevin's wedding, they kept emphasizing her honesty and "what you see is what you get"? Granted, we know that Kate has been lying to Kevin in regards to her true identity, but what if - on "Alcatraz" the Others/writers/Kate are tricking us with her motives?

I mean, there are holes in either theory (whether Kate had made a deal with the others and did the skex to lead Jack on vs. whether she was completely "sincere"), so I don't know exactly how much of a guess I can make. But there are definitely parts that need to be filled in and explained in either real time or flashbacks...I get enough discontinuity on my other TV shows, thank you very much.

Maybe there indeed is some kinda plan planted into the skex thing but I don't wanna bother to think about that too much.

Even if it is all we see it is, it's fine for me.

Jate isn't ruined for me. When I first thought about skex I was sure it would but now... it's not that bad. Kate wasn't exactly 'balanced', she hasn't been for a long time. And if you watch her face when she's with Sawyer, she seem so... numb.

She's just looking a way out of all the pain for a moment, like a drug-addict or something: she knows in the long run it doesn't do her any good but she'd just wants to throw herself into something. Plus, she must've felt like Jack, her sanity and rock on the island, had abandoned her when she needed his help more than ever.

Jate is no fairytale, and since when has true love been?

This isn't some high school drama where what matters is to who everyone loses his/her virginity or something...

If the main couple sleeps with someone else, something is ruined. But Jack and Kate are both adults. They're both screwed up and lost and they make mistakes.

So for me, nothing is ruined.

It's not what happened, it's how it happened. Sawyer was going to get killed next morning, Kate thought Jack doesn't give a damn. I can live with this.

I don't believe she is in love with Sawyer - she would have vocalized it either in the post scene or while he had a gun to his head and Pickett's finger was on the trigger. If you're in love with a guy and he's about to be assassinated would you not yell to him you love him instead of asking him to fight? Or at the very least say both things.

And judging from Sawyer's scowl during the walkie talkie scene he's going to definately throw "I can't leave without you" back in her face at some point. That's actually going to be interesting to watch.

ITA! Sawyer's facial expression after the "I'll kiss you because I can't say the words" sequence gets me every time - honestly, I think he knows that Kate doesn't love him the way she loves Jack. Sawyer sounds almost...ironic when he replies "I love you too", and I can swear that he's got this eye-roll expression on his face. Seriously, watch (if you can stand it) that scene again, and you'll know what I mean.

And the scowl on Sawyer's face at the end is priceless. He's all: I just had a gun pointed to my head and you were telling me to run...and now you can't run/leave without that darn doctor?! I think the aftermath of that moment has the potential to be fantastic for Jaters. Sawyer has that skill of pushing all the right buttons - can you imagine if he pokes/irritates/infuriates Kate enough so that she finally screams, "Yes, I do love Jack, whether or not he has a gun pointed to his head. Happy now?!"

jabs:ScorpioGrl, first I wondered about that too. I would've expected Jack to fall to the floor crying but seeing how it went, I'm 'happy' with the way Jack acted. He's grown so much during the captivity time and I also think that Jack 'sensed' that to happen someday. He's been watching Kate and Sawyer all this time so that's why it didn't exactly surprise him that much, though he's shared some highly romantically charged moments with Kate himself. And when Jack saw Kate again, he realized that the others have done something to her, that she's not herself. And when Jack looks down, with that sad, confused smile-like on his face he probably is thinking something like 'okay, so that's what she wants, Kate really cares about Sawyer.'

He decided to let Kate go, which in my opinion is so... beautiful on Jack's part. Especially considering his obsession issues. And it doesn't mean that he'd love Kate so little that he's able to let her go. On the contrary. He loves her that much. AND in the genuine, true, unconditional sense of loving, which is wanting the other person to be happy even if that doesn't include you. Jack's love for Kate isn't self-seeking, everything he does, he does for her.

i completely agree with you 100%.

it is funny that they compare sawyer/kate/jack as star wars characters. like sawyer is han solo, kate is princess leila, and jack is either luke skywalker or anakin skywalker.

New thread! Thanks for starting it, Anne. ITA that Sawyer knows that Kate doesn't love him. I hope that some time he'll do something about that in the sense of actually saying 'you don't love me, you love Jack' or something along those lines. I don't know. I just had to make up a song for biology so my mind is very imaginative right now.
